What's your favorite breed of dog?

Rotties by far..true rotties, not ones bred with other dogs to make them bigger. Ours (we have had 4 before) never got above 105 lbs. Freia, pic here weighed just 70, was my baby who we intended on breeding and paid nearly $2000 for, had to be given away when we moved because we couldn't bring her with us...:( I miss her so much but she went to a good home with a guy Mike worked with who had just put down his very old rottie.) Plus all our neighbors at that time were idiots who sterotyped rotties and complained about her and her brother, Cyrus, all of the time. They were the type of dogs that all you had to do was look at them and down on their backs they went just waiting for you to pet them. Now we get the "You have snakes?" look....know what I mean?

oops forgot the pic

Border Collies. have had 3 and currently have a boder collie mix. very smart dogs and love to play. and a nice size not tiny but not huge either. what i'd do for another pure border collie.

I have to say mutt, even though that isn't a breed - because that's what my boy Rudy is, and he's the best dog ever! :D Seriously though, I believe he's part Cattle Dog and possibly some kind of terrier or shepherd... your guess is as good as mine, LOL. And if I were to get a purebred, some of my favorite breeds are German Shepherd, Australian Shepherd, Cattle Dog, Bernese Mtn Dog, Schnauzer, and Golden Retriever.

Here's my mutt Rudy, who is around 4.5 years old & 40lbs... got him as a puppy at the local humane society.

I love them ALL! We currently have 10 dogs--7 Border Collies and 3 Pomeranians. They range in age from almost 15 y/o (Rex--BC) to 11 months (Fiona--Pom). I've always lived with dogs--a Wolfdog, Chows, Chow mixes, English Springer Spaniels, Yorkies, collies of all sorts, Golden Retrievers, GSDs, Dobermans, Muttleys, and the list goes on. Z and I were recently discussing the dogs we like, and we came to the conclusion that we could each live to be 250 and never have them ALL :). I love the sight hounds--Salukis, Ibizan Hounds, Afghan Hounds and Whippets, especially, as well as Silken Windhounds and Borzois. Z loves the big guys--Wolfhounds and Deerhounds. I've always wanted a Chihuahua. How 'bout a Chinese Crested? Yep! Westie? You know it! I'd love a Shiba Inu one day, and a Chinook Dog and a Singing Dog and a Bulldog for my husband.

One thing I like about living where I do is getting to attend the Rose City Classic Dog Show every year. I love seeing the newly accepted breeds and the breeds that are campaigning for acceptance into the AKC, watching the Agility, Obedience and Rally trials, mingling with dogs on the conformation floors and in the grooming areas. I love the heady atmosphere of dog hair and slobber, of big paws and tiny skittery paws. Low barks, high yips and everything in between.

Choose just one favorite? Impossible :).

If you attended any of the West Coast shows in the 90's, you've probably seen my moms Norwegian Elkhound's show and also compete in the agility courses. They're retired now, but they used to really be into it. They were imported, so my mom had to learn all the commands in Norwegian, it was pretty funny ...

CaptBogart, I didn't move to this area until 1999. Before then, I spent 20+ years on the dry side of the Cascades, about 264 miles from here. So I probably didn't see any of your family's dogs, I'm afraid. I love that show, though. Amazing how far away people come from to enter their dogs, there.

Lol, yeah, they're in Cali, so either them or a handler took them all over the west coast for shows. I never got into it, but will catch the major ones on tv.

My favs are "Bully" breeds. But I also LOVE GSP's. My ex had one, and i ADORED HER! I wanted to take her home SO bad! My roomie had a German Inport Sable German Shepard. He was HUGE! Lol But Dumber then a Pile of rocks! lmao! I am not a Huge small dog person.. But I LOVE Papillons! I Will have one one day!

I was hoping I still had the pics of my Roomie's Shep to show you.. But I guess I Don't. She rehomed him when she got her Divorce.

I can't stand the morons who assume that just because you have a large or reputedly "aggressive" dog that it would attack at a passing glance. When I was a kid we lived next door to a guy who had a three-legged rottweiler. He talked a big game but he was a total sweetie. Everyone in the neighborhood would skirt around the guy's house when the dog was out, but if you got anywhere near Duke he would immediately get excited and roll over or lay down to let you pet him. Unfortunately there are more idiots who blindly buy into stereotypes like that in the world than there are rational, sensible people.

I will always have a special place in my heart for Golden Retrievers and mutts. My current dogs are a Golden mix and a Lab mix (well, only the Lab mix is mine, the Golden mix is my boyfriend's).

One day I want to get an Ibizan hound, but I don't have the space for one right now.

Catahoula's are my favorite breed. I will have to get my father to scan and send me some pictures so I can post of the ones I used to own... I cant wait to get a place where I can have a dog again... Those are on the top of my list.

The first dog I ever owned was a catahoula, and I loved that dog. I would recommend one of them any day of the week. I do not have any real good pictures of Jolie, but here is one that will have to work.

My parents used to breed Catahoula's when we lived in Louisiana... then we took them up to Oklahoma, and then back to Louisiana... check yours papers, Anything that came from Terra Cotta Catahoula's was from our stock... I did a search a few months ago and found someone with ours in their bloodlines.. I was so excited.. When I finally get a place big enough I'm going to go back to louisiana and get one from them... lol We sold them to people from all over the states.

Do you have pics of her, Emily? I'd love to see that mix.

I found some, they're not very good because they are from my phone, but here she is Bailey, the 9 year old NewfiLab...and these pictures are deceiving, she really weighs 120 lbs and is a big ol' girl. :)
