I recently bought an Abbott's Okeetee (via FedEx) from Don Soderberg at South Mountain Reptiles in Texas:

Don's prices seem to be pretty good (normals are $20, Okeetees $35--even most of the more sexy morphs are sub $100), and I felt that the additional shipping charge was worth it. Most of the local pet stores (I'm in the metro Richmond, Virginia area) simply didn't have a great selection, and the more I looked around, the more questions (usually unanswered) I had about where the creatures had come from, and how they had been cared for. My son and I had also decided that we wanted an Okeetee, and there weren't any to be had around here. Even most of the usual online sources didn't have any in stock this time of year. We decided that because we might have this snake for as long as 20 years we wouldn't settle for whatever the local pet stores might happen to have. We also wanted to make sure we obtained the snake from a really reputable source--and all these things made the extra $46 in shipping well worth it. The shipping process was really easy--I ordered her at about 11 am the day after New Year's, and I was unpacking her about 24 hours later. Don seems like a really nice guy, and took extra time to answer a number of questions I had. It also seems clear that he considers responding to customers' e-mails and phone calls to be an essential part of the transaction, and at the end of the day, if I have problems, I'd much prefer to have the ear of one of the country's top breeders than a local pet store that doesn't know much more about corn snakes than what can be gleaned from a generic care sheet.
Don's new book is also really good. Don't let the "Professional Breeders" designation fool you--this is really a book that spans everything from pre-ownership to introductory breeding.
