WOOOT BARRACK OBAMA

Straight party voting seems incredibly lazy to me, or at least naive. Do you really believe that every member of your party is a better candidate?
Lazy, that's quite rude and completely false. Lazy is not voting at all, and naive is thinking that voting both democrat and republican makes you more well rounded. I voted straight democrat as well, and if you lived in NH you would understand why.
As for your theory on how being 21 makes me predisposed to voting left wing, that's naive. Saying the poor make themselves poor is an incredible claim as well. How come some republicans turn to the bible to enforce laws, yet they say redistributing taxes is wasting resources on the poor. They'll use the bible as a scapegoat to ban gay marriage, but ignore helping the poor and needy (which is also in the bible). I don't think Jesus blamed the poor for their condition, I guess it's selective reading to reward greed.

Okay!

I live in NH and I can't understand why you voted straight democrat? :dunce: Why did you include that in your statement? It just seems silly. ;p

Oh God the world is over KJ and I have exact scores who would have imagined that, lol. I am all for small government, hate welfare in most cases, but am a little republican with my money. Like KJ I have worked hard to get to where I am so call me selfish, but hands off my money go make your own. Anyone can go to college its called student loans, scholarships, and pay it all back. I bartended my way through my first two degrees paying off my interest plus, while paying ALL my bills, and supporting my kids- its possible. Then we have disability in this country you know I'm depressed give me money, my back hurts give me money, and I have chronic pain give me money- not cool with me either. However, I am very openminded and think government and the bible should stay out of our personal rights- that goes for gays, guns, censorship, legal marijuana, cigs, and anything else one does with their own money in their own home. So I scored libertarian at the upper left side which was no surprise to me since most of those questions had to do with human rights. There is no one party that will ever fit the total bill and get elected so i am a registered independent though I will admit I have only ever voted democratic- but hey I had bush, bush, and mccain come on that was an easy oh no for me:)

Actually, NH may be very important in acheiving libertarian ideals...

Lots of libertarian minded people decided to move there to try to "infiltrate", since the state already had some libertarian ideas going for it. Read more about the Free State Project here:

If I didn't hate snow and cold so much, maybe I would move there, too! Could be interesting to see if it works!

I heard about this happening a few years ago and that was the last I heard about it. I know the guy, two houses up from me, is a libertarian. I'm not seeing a huge effect from it and with the influx of liberals from Massachusetts, who are trying to escape the high taxes, I am not sure how this project is going to work.

Kathy, I think if you could get past the cold, you would love NH. The change in the seasons, breaks up the monotony of the days. Sure it gets cold in the winter, but that doesn't last very long.

we would deal with -20F in Jan and Feb! That is pretty cold. Why, whadayou got?
-20*F?! We finally dust off our winter jackets at -20*F! How about -30's with -60-70 windchills and we still get to go to school. :nyah: Speaking of liberals . . . Global warming my buttocks!!

We dealt with the -30F a few years ago, during Christmas. That's not so bad, but when you come home with your one year old, to a house without heat, because your oil company didn't deliver in time, then that's pretty rough! I have also hunted in -18F, had my rifle freeze solid and icicles on my mustache. I also fell asleep in that weather too. (Don't ask!)

So, I have been there. Not very often, but I still got the t-shirt!:dgrin:

I think it will take MANY years for it to have any real effect. Most people can't afford to just pick up and move for their political ideals. If even a little bit of progress is made, though, I bet others will slowly filter in. We sure could use a "free" state, just to show what it is like.

"...influx of liberals from Massachusetts, who are trying to escape the high taxes..."

Haha! What do they think CAUSED the high taxes? If they do the same thing in NH, do they expect different results?

I grew up in Wisconsin. Maybe not quite like the Dakotas, but cold enough!! I escaped when I was 23, and have no desire to go back!
