... Had I asked why is Obama covering up or why is Obama anti-American etc etc etc I could understand your position, but I did not I asked a general question about the office of the presidency. In my view the office is still above the man holding it.

Semantics ... huh? Having a requirement and providing proof you meet the requirement are two different things period. I am required to pass drug testing for work, the test results are proof. I am require to be 21 to enter a bar and drink, showing a valid ID is the proof. I am required to have good vision to get a driver license, passing the eye test is the proof. I am required to live in our school district to enroll my kids, I had to take a utility bill with my name and address as proof. If the proof is inferred, if it is included then why the "extremists" whine from the liberal left media?

I guess if you wanted we could ask the president to submit to some DNA sampling to insure he/she is not a serial rapist as well? It is possible that he/ she may be, so why don't we do that as well?
I guess I would just choose to assume ( yes I know the connotations with this word) that somewhere along the way if there was a problem with any of this it would've surfaced by now...

If that was a specific requirement of the constitution sure why not. At this time it is a specific requirement in the constitution that the president be a natural born citizen. So providing proof of that is NOT extremist it is simply an obligation to meet the requirement to hold the office.
 
I'd been scheduled to do an NPR call-in show about reptiles for over six months; Charlie Green and I do this every show every spring. I just got bumped for some swine flu doctor after rearranging my schedule and prepping for the last few weeks. I'm really ticked off at Obama right now.

The only reason I could find for you to quote "extremist" prior to your question is a quote from my post #523 here:

So if that is indeed the case then I guess I owe you an apology for so ignorantly thinking that in a thread about Obama, in a post that I made about Obama , from a quote I copied that directly references Obama, that you cited in a following post as the reference to your question,to my post about a bill that was inspired by detractors of Obama in which the words: presidential candidate, birth certificate and "extremist" appear and in which the name Obama appears four times, that I could possible have thought that there may be some small inkling of a reference/connection to Obama...my bad.

I clearly owe you the apology because I posted a non-Obama question in an Obama-only thread. I was also lazy in not cutting out the irrelevant parts when quoting, which I normally do. I will do my best in the future to avoid doing this.

Again I know nothing about the bill. And most of the lobbying I do is for less government not more. But I do back our Constitution so when it requires a candidate be a natural born citizen I see no issue with said candidate having to provide proof he/she is. The only official document I know that does that is a birth certificate.




:headbang: In the end I give up ... where do I signup for the extremist group that doesn't see an issue with ALL presidential candidates providing proof they are a natural born citizen to meet the requirement established by the Constitution of the United States of America. (disclaimer: by ALL I don't mean Obama I am referring to every potential candidate whether they be a man, a woman;a republican, a democrat, an independent, etc, etc;of any race;of any religion, agnostic, atheist, etc, etc;of any descent;of any occupation, senator, ditch digger, etc, etc....)
