wow!! girls!!

i think everyone here is great! and very helpful!! and cheers to you kathy love!! i didnt realize you were on this site< i read your book 5 times before i ordered my first snake, it really helped, i would sit in a recliner with my son in my lap and read to him and now he loves snakes too! cant wait for the new orleans rep show in november!!

My boyfriend is actually pretty wary around my corn snake, and Samson is just a baby! I held my gal friend's year old corn snake and decided I needed one for myself. Couple months later I ordered Sammy. =D It's great to know that there are fellow gals out there that enjoy their corns as much as I enjoy mine!

My boyfriend is like that too, he used to hate em, until he held my ball.. now he loves em.
He's a bit weary about holding my corns though.. they move a bit fast for his liking.

It's not that surprising to me. I'll bet that a large percentage of the girls who like snakes are not into school sports, don't enjoy cheer leading, are animal lovers, and are not over obsessive about their stylish cloths and 'looks'.
And I bet there are plenty of girls who also don't fit that 'snake' girl stereotype. I know a couple off hand, and they shock tons of people. :D

I've just always been weird. :p

I'm a laaaaaady and I do snakie laaaaady things! (sorry couldn't resist)....

It's my MALE friends I have to convince to hold the snakes. Seriously. They are the ones that go "ewww".

Yup, this is pretty much my "virtual home", lol!

I will never forget the time (way back in the mid '70s) when we had a traveling reptile exhibit that we drove into shopping malls, and either took donations, or charged $.50 to go through and see the animals. One mall was in a kind of rough area of town, and this big, macho security guard (with gun strapped on) came through and started telling me about the previous Sunday when they had a gun battle in the mall during a jewelry store robbery. No problem for him! Then one of the snakes in the cage hear him moved, and he about jumped out of his skin running out the door, haha! I always remember that as one of the strangest reactions of any of our visitors, considering his experience and profession.

I'm a girl too! And I have 185 snakes in house right now! I have had a boa as long as nine feet too in house and she was a great girl to hold and lay with as you watch TV. I feed and clean, breed and sell too. Love my snakes and all the snakes us girls do too!

PJ :dancer:

This thread is awsome, it's great to know how many of us are here and happy with our scalie friends. It gets so old listening to people at work squirm when I say something happy about my babies.

LoL - you always make me laugh.....

Men! Isn't THAT the truth? I find that more men are afraid of snakes. When I've taken snakes to my kids school? It's the girls that are more comfortable. I taught a dissection class for 5th graders. I had about 50/50 split of boys and girls and it was the girls that weren't squeemish at all....

My dates don't 'end' because I've got snakes in my house, the men just seem to not want to step inside...LOL - not a bad thing.... <snicker>

I love to share my hobby with my girls. In fact we're doing a local reptile expo this weekend...it's an all girls booth!

Enjoy!

I did snakes before I met my SO.

He got into them because of me.

I am now officially the "Crazy Snake Lady" to my friends...

I have a girl friend who came to my apartment the other day, and she's pretty afraid of snakes. To my surprise, she told me she really wanted to see them... I'm sure she'd have touched one if I had let her, but I had fed about an hour before... We then went to one of my guy friend's houses, and he's got a Red Tail Boa named Death (boys...), and she touched him. Now, my past boyfriend... Out of sight, out of mind... He'd really rather look and not touch... He was also terrified that the glass at the aquarium in Dallas would break, and would hardly walk under the tunnel. Then again, he's like that with all animals... Considering the fact that I want a house and pasture full of animals... All I've got to say is, NEXT! It's so awesome that there are so many girlies that love doing animal things, not fashion, drama, and boys.
