WTB 1,500 to 2,000 baby corns

Chip

Former hobby breeder
Hey folks. I am trying to help a very big breeder fill a very big order. We'll need a ton of common morphs (normal, amel, anery, snow) not passing the $5 price point. I've seen them this cheap at shows, I just need to start buying them out when I find them now. If anyone knows of sources that need to wholesale some common stuff, please drop me a line. They will be sold as pets and not feeders. Thanks!

What is the smallest amount lot they would be willing to get? I've had some wholesalers tell me it's not worth their while to pay to ship fewer than 80 corns. I usually don't wholesale my stuff, just trying to save you the hassle of people contacting you with just 5 or 10 snakes. I might have 30 or 40 "low end" snakes this year, but some still need to hatch.

I feel sure 30 would be worth shipping, anyway. 5 or 10 would really take a shipping hit, they still have to be Priority overnight. I'm trying to do this with the best care to the animals as possible, the low price points often don't afford them that. I've never felt good about those "Wanted: wholesale lots of..." ads on KS. It's for Brian Barcyzk, my only involvement would be the opportunity to examine hundreds of baby corns looking for something odd... and to make sure Brian still thinks I'm a swell guy when we trade some animals this summer!

Alright folks. I'm getting complaints from pretty much everybody that Brian isn't returning emails. He's the biggest snake breeder in the United States, and presumably didn't do so by being a bad businessman and not replying or paying people. I know at least one person sent him snakes and hasn't heard anything. Before starting a BOI, I wanted to hear how things worked for any of you guys who sent him corns. I made a trade with him in Daytona, and (obviously) did so to my satisfaction. Any of you who had good or bad luck, please post it here. Dates are particularly important, if there has been an illness or something, I wouldn't want to attack him when he can't respond.

I am the sucker that sent a box of critters before receiving payment...

8/22-Deal finalized with Brian and snakes shipped out
8/28-Brian finally responded saying he was out of town but hadn't heard anything bad about my shipment
9/5, 9/13, 9/19 and 9/24-Emails that have been ignored

Wow, that's over a month, there's hardly an excuse. I have full confidence that he will pay you, but this is beyond flaky.

I don't really have any actual transaction history but I was working with him on selling him a little lot of normals and didn't hear anything back after he had said he wanted them. I do have them listed for sale elsewhere since then.
Personally I think we should give him a chance to say the reason he hasn't been emailing people before taking things to BOI. Sometimes life happens and we flake on things because we have too many other things on the plate. There could be an explanation. I hope Josh that this can be quickly resolved for you.

Dates: My last correspondence from him was on 9/11, he said he was finally back (had been in europe)
Sept 12 I replied to his email
Sept 15 I sent another email since I had not heard from him
After that I relisted my snakes. Hope this helps.

Seem kind of odd that the largest breeder in the US can't produce enough of his own.

I've known Brian for 28 years. He always pays but is terrible at replying in a timely manner.

IMO, that's too long to ignore e-mails, especially since payment is still due. One more e-mail stating that if you don't hear from him in X # of days, you have no option but to go to the BOI. That should at least get you a response, and if it doesn't, then the BOI is what needs to be done.

Well, I'm not sure he's the biggest corn breeder, but with over 30,000 snakes, he's the largest snake breeder in the country by a stretch, I'd say. I also feel certain he will pay Josh for some normal corn snakes, the guy has ball pythons worth as much as my house, but something is odd here:

Are you guys both using the same email address? I know he has staff, I'd like to hope it's one of them dropping the ball. I hope this doesn't reflect poorly on me.

I was emailing Brian for a few weeks at the comcast address before he disappeared. I forwarded my email from today to "[email protected]" and got an instant reply from Lori...along with my full payment. This reads a bit nasty to me...

I am sorry for the delay in getting you paid, it was an oversight on my part. Brian was gone for an extended period of time and I was trying to take care of several deals and obviously yours fell through the cracks. I wish you would have emailed ME sooner as Brian has not been in town.
This is the first communication that I have received about it. I just checked and saw that I did not pay you, again I am sorry but touching base with me would have corrected it sooner. No need to threaten with BOI.
Money was just sent paypal.

Thanks,
Lori

That is a real shame to hear that this has happened from Brian Barczyk, of all people. While I find it hard to believe that Brian has willingly "stolen" Josh's snakes, I don't find it hard to believe that Josh has simply fallen through the cracks of BHB as I apparently have.

My problem with Brian is not necessarily with any tangible transaction but in discussing with him personally on the phone about working out specific trades when he told me that he wanted to work out a long term partnership so that I could help to supply him with animals and morphs that he simply was not producing on a large scale. He clearly told me to breed everything I have and that he would buy all of those animals wholesale from me. Just to make it very clear, the idea of a "partnership" was his, not mine; I had originally contacted him on the premise of a possible trade. I told Brian that I was concerned about over-producing and possibly being stuck with a ton of snakes; he reassured me that this would not happen, that he would buy everything I produced, even unsexed fresh out of the egg unestablished animals. This concerned me as I don't operate that way, but that was the kind of partnership he was wanting to have with me.

After our phone discussion regarding our original trade deal and "partnership" he started becoming a bit flaky in response time as to when he wanted to work out the details of our trade. There were specific animals of mine he claimed to have wanted but just left me hanging on how he wanted to conduct the trade. I was hesitant about initially wanting to offer those specified animals for sale to others being that Brian said he wanted them, feeling that we had an understanding of trading for those animals and a possible partnership in the works. The last few emails I received from him always promised that he was still very interested in trading and that of a partnership.

In one of the emails he asked me to call him of which I did several times over the course of several days but was unable to get a hold him. The last email I received from him, he said that he was going to call me on specific days, so I made sure to be available for him to answer his call but he never did call.

I eventually sent one final email to him about 2 months ago asking why he never got back with me after a month of no communication and that if he wanted to form a partnership with me, that he needed to be more prudent about doing what he said he was going to do, even if it was just responding with a simple email or short phone call to let me know what was going on because I did not want to start producing a bunch of animals on the promise of him buying them all just to ultimately renege and me getting stuck with a bunch of animals that I couldn't afford to take care of over the long haul. To this day, I have never heard back from him.

For the record, I have known Brian for over 6 years, having spent in between $8k-$10k with him over the years as well as spending many many hours communicating with him over the phone, in person at shows and by email about a great many things, some professional and some personal. For the most part, he's always been fairly good and timely at responding until recently.

It really dismays me though to think that Brian, or his company, has neglected Josh this way by accepting animals that have not been paid for. By his own admission, I know Brian has been having some issues with his business overall, what with the current economy here in the US and his semi-frequent turnover of staff, but I have a hard time comprehending why he's not responding to emails of a business relation such as Josh's when he clearly owes Josh.

With all of that said, I don't think Brian is a thief, I just think Brian has way more on his plate than he can manage or knows what to do with. Right now, I'm just of the belief that Josh, like myself, have simply fallen through the BHB cracks and that Brian will eventually make this right for Josh. However, if I find out that this has happened with others in that Brian has taken other people's animals without paying for them, then that may signal something a lot more concerning than just thinking this was a simple and single oversight on BHB's part in regards to Josh. I sincerely hope this is not the case!

Guess I'm a bit late responding, having wrote what I did several hours ago and just now posting. :headbang:

Glad that Josh got his money, too bad that it went a little sideways but I figured it would be resolved. :)

Sounds a bit nasty to me as well. You were dealing with Brian, not Lori, via the comcast address, expecting to continue communications with the same person via the same method. To have to suddenly switch to a different person at a different address without being told to do so, and getting yelled at for not doing so earlier, is just not right.

Josh, have you tried him on Twitter...he is always responding and seems very active with postings. Thought it might be worth a shot. Jarrett and I both have emailed Lori for over a year with no response. I saw her in Daytona and basically was blown off again with the "send me an email" response. We just said forget about it and moved on. I refuse to beg someone for their business, especially in this economy. Good luck, hope it helps.
T.

Troy, he got paid, see post #12. I'm pretty disappointed with this whole thing, though.
