Official Daytona 2008 Thread

ArpeggioAngel

Around Here Somewhere....
All right everyone - Daytona is just around the corner - less than a month to go...

Thought now would be a good time to start the "official" thread for who is going, who is vending, who would like to join us for dinner etc...

Joe and I will be there - heading out Friday afternoon as usual. Hotel near the airport again.

I just spoke to the manager at Whistle Junction and confirmed the back room for us again. I have booked it under the "Cornsnake Group" so that no one has to remember anyone's last name or anything..
I advised people would probably start showing up around 600pm or so.

For those who need it - here is the address/phone number for Whistle Junction:
1854 S Ridgewood Ave
South Daytona, FL 32119
(386) 761-5472

It is about 5miles from the Convention Center.

Also - here is a link to the Convention Website. As of today - it does not look to be updated yet with a list of vendors for this year:

Hope to see lots of familiar faces again this year and maybe some new ones too!!

I'll be there! I'm arriving Friday evening, staying till Sunday, at the Hilton, and will be going to the dinner Saturday night.

I'm going to be there, along with my boyfriend and my labmate and her husband (provided he is able to get off work).

I'm hoping to get my first corn snake there. I've been reading this site for a few months now (since I took over care of my roommate's king snake) but I've been holding off getting a corn until the show. I've got a rack on order so I will hopefully have my setup all ready for my new snake(s) come August!

Forgot to mention - I will also try to remember to print up some maps to hand out to people as I run into them at the show to get to dinner just in case.
I know last year a group of us got together and car-pooled over there and we can also have people follow us if need be. It is really easy to get to...but trying to make sure I have all bases covered.

If anyone wants my cell phone number before the show let me know and I will PM you. This way I can make sure to meet up with as many people as possible while walking around the show to chat and give directions.

My dad and I will be there! We are driving up after school on Friday and leaving Sunday morning. So I am going to the show on Saturday and the dinner as well! Can't wait and I hope we have an awesome turnout at the dinner like last year.

I'll be there. Finally! I'm staying at the Hilton. I come in on Friday and leave on Sunday. I'd love to met, eat and chat with as many people as I can possibly squeeze into that time frame. I'm buzzing with anticipation!!!:dancer:

If everything goes as planned, I'll be there. I can't guarantee hubby and the children will be there or not. I would prefer the children to stay with Grandma for that week-end as they tend to decrease my enjoyment of the show having to watch them. Even hubby tends to be a bother when he's with me. Also, hubby has just started a new job...armed security guard...graveyard shift...interstate rest stop...so chances of him being able to go are not that good. But it wouldn't be the first time I've gone by myself. It's my birthday present and I WILL enjoy it!

I'll be there. My flight comes in Saturday around 11:00am and I fly out Sunday at noon. Looking forward to it !!

This will be my first trip to Daytona. I work for the North Carolina Aquarium where we also have a snake exhibit. We have about 30 snakes from Corns and Kings to Timbers and Diamond backs. Myself and the herp keeper at work talked our boss into paying for the entire trip down there.
I've kept several kings before I got married and have now finally convinced my wife into allowing a cornsnake in the house,...and yes it took quite a bit of convincing. I've spoken with Kathy Love a few times over email and I plan to purchase one of her ghosts...or maybe an okeetee...or maybe both. I've got to limit my cash amount or I'm gonna be in trouble ;)
We may come by for the dinner to meet you all. I'm counting down the days until this trip.
John

I'll be there again. Come in Friday and leave Monday. What night is the dinner? Saturday again? And what time?

If all goes well I should be arriving sometime Friday and leaving Sunday after the show. I hope to be able to hit the dinner on Saturday too as it was a lot of fun last time.

I will be vending again this year so everyone needs to stop by and say hi. My tables are 409-410.

;)

I will stop by and say HI from Belgium :crazy01:

Bump bump bump...

Looks like we are going to have a great time again this year. I see lots of people responding that we have met before as well as some new ones! I cannot wait to see everyone!

I am going, but its just a short drive for me. I'll probably just drive the fam down and make a day of it Saturday. Sure to take lots of pics and I know there's no way I won't leave without some new snakes.

Can't wait!!!!
