WTF IS this?!

I wonder if it was just a leftover from the previous clutch. How did you set up the laybox? In my not very vast experience, once she goes in and starts laying, she isn't going to go in and out and leave the clutch, probably. Once she starts, she'll most likely finish all at once. If relatively undisturbed.

It could be a left over from the last clutch, but if she went off food and shed sometime between May 16-18 this is following protocol for a second clutch. Given the time line from her shed, she really isn't due to actually lay for another day or more. My females almost always take at least 10 days. However, it is not too uncommon for females to pop out a slug or two a few days before the real laying event happens. I've even had them do a slug a day for three days and then lay a somewhat normal clutch all at once. Keep her box in there and don't check on her more than every 12 hours. We'll see what she does in the following week.

I am glad we are a helping bunch of folks here, but I have something I have to say about this thread.

In May of 2009 I used the abbreviation in a post the same as in the title of this thread. Long story short I got reported and got a infraction for it.

It is strange/funny how times change and this hasn't been reported and the title changed? Am I starting to feel like Josh, um not yet! I will keep this in mind though. I am also not bothered by the abbrevation and will not report it.

Her lay box is a translucent plastic rectangular box with a blue lid, and a hole cut in the side for access and egress. The edges of the corners are taped with duck/duct tape so they can't hurt her as she crawls in and out of the box. Inside is about 3" of moist moss (sphagum? I can't spell it....). The box is approximately 4" tall x 12" long x 9" deep. The moss was soaked in a bowl of water, and then drained, and squeezed until there was no standing water--the moss is moist, but not wet. It went inside the habitat about 1/2 way between the warm side and the cool side. Humidity in the habitat is at 45%, temp on the warm side varies between 75 & 80 degrees Fahrenheit most days, although it has been known to occasionally edge up to 83 degrees on hot days. The habitat is a 30 gallon high, so the floor space is the same size as a 20 gallon long aquarium. She is in a corner in the dining room, with the boys' cages next to hers, so there is a towel covering the face of the tank for privacy.

I hope that helps.

As for whomever is upset about the thread title, my apologies. It was a fear reaction in case something was terribly wrong with my snake. It will not happen again. Report me if you must--at least I'm getting the help that I need from people who care.

No problems out of me. I was just stating that times have changed and I was surprised. I am glad we have such a site to get the help and answers we need.

Even since I've been here, I've seen verbal warnings for simlarly titled threads (I belive the title was something along the lines of 'what the floofy' or something). By 'verbal' warning I mean, a mod posted a reply saying to be careful with that abbreviation.
I'm also not offended, but You're not the only one who see the times a changin. I always just err on the side of caution myself...its easy to forget its a family site.
I wont be reporting anything either, I'm not offended at all, and not trying to pick on anyone or start anything...just agreeing with an observation made. :)

It would be neat if you ended up with a mystery clutch, hey? Any news?

She's holed up in the lay box at the moment. She comes and goes, but we haven't checked inside since yesterday morning. As soon as I know something, everyone else here will, too :).

Sounds like the lay box should meet her approval. I don't know how to describe it, but when she settles in to lay, if she does, she'll get this look, like she's in a trance or something. Frozen. She won't have that alert, unsettled look like before starting to lay.

Moderating this site has always been a "learn as you go" experience. Each moderator has their own views on each specific situation. Sometimes they are similar to those of the other mods, sometimes not, and then we all have to answer to Rich on how he wants things done. There are more "behind the scene" discussions than many members realize. Occasionally, we don't learn how Rich wants us to deal with a specific situation until after it has already been dealt with by one of the mods, but per his instructions, the action or inaction taken by the mod(s) is left as it is, we just try to deal with similar circumstances differently the next time. Also, as mentioned, things have changed and will continue to change on how this site is run and moderated. Things that were not allowed upon last year may be allowed this year, and vice versa. Not everyone may like it, but that's par for the course.

Thank You for the explaination, Susan. I appreciate you taking the time to address that. It makes sence of course, and we all appreciate the effort you (and all the mods) put out to keep this place friendly and fun, without all that other stuff that public forums can degrade to. I hate to think what would happen without you! I enjoy this forum so much, and I for one am glad there are people behind the scenes making sure that everything runs as it should. :)

I am good with how things flow here and I appreciate each and everyone of the mods.

Sorry to hijack your thread Mrs. Z. I sincerely apologize.
