What makes the difference between a $30 cornsnake and a $1000 cornsnake?

This is purely out of curiosity. I am not involved in breeding at all, I just have corns as pets. I was just wondering what makes a cornsnake more or less expensive. I look at lots of pictures go by and I think they are all beautiful. :)
 
$970 dollars, or whatever price you put on the snake. LOL

A new morph or different color or any thing that makes it new. The good news is that in a few years the $1000 dollar snake will only cost $50 to $100 dollars.

I kinda figured all those things, but I still can't wrap my head around paying that much more for a snake when you can get one that is (IMO) just as pretty for much less. :shrugs: Oh well, to each their own. I'm not trying to knock it or anything though. I do think genetics are interesting, so maybe one day I will try my hand at breeding too.
 
It would definitely be for breeding purposes. Walter Smith posts awesome snakes that are expensive and I would imagine only a breeder would be interested enough to pay the prices. I wish I could afford them just b/c they are so awesome! The breeder would probably know the potential for the awesome babies that could potentially make money back to pay for the snake. That's my thought.

I had to wait 2 years for the price on Butters to drop to a price I was willing to pay. In time the price will drop on everything.

There are a few people who like to have the first one of a brand new morph (if the breeder is willing to part with it!!) I have a snake (to grow up) that for a year was the only one. The Peppermint Stripe, Heart Attack. Even now, there are only three of them. It's pretty fun!!

Ha, just look at the prices some of the ball morphs from NERD go.
I'm waiting for those palmettos to drop... it'll be such an impatient wait.
 
I think I'm the only one who doesn't like the palmettos! I favor darker snakes. Well, and the expensive ones Walter has up right now, they are both gorgeous.
 
Snakebytes, aka BHB Reptiles, has a scaleless corn snake they've got posted for $3500. That's the priciest corn snake I've ever seen.
