Things that disgust me

Basically, all I'm saying is that a multi-party system isn't going to solve the problems that are facing the US because, like in Canada, politics has devolved into winning at any cost, regardless of the harm done to the country in the process.

Yeah...I had a feeling that was the case. But it was something to dream about. Dreaming that the republicans and democrats will grow up and play nice together is too far out even for an idealist like me. ;)

Ryan, are you even old enough to vote? Ron Paul is interesting. I feel like I should learn more about him. But I think he's too "out there" to be electable.

Ill be 18 in time to vote. I have been studying politics for the past year and Ron Paul is the best for for the job imho.

I am in Texas, he is a idiot he has helped ruin our education etc... here. I met him once he is so slimy!!!!! ugh!

I the, TEXAS Redneck, totally agree with kshannon.

I hate agreeing with Nitelion94 but I truly believe that RON PAUL would be the best choose in 2012.

RON PAUL IN 2012

What I don't understand--and I know I'm incredibly idealistic--is why can't we have more choices? Out of the entire country, we get (ultimately) TWO candidates to choose from? That's it? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease.

I always thought it was sad for you guys, but more than one option has problems too. It splits the vote; so lets say you have 2 right leaning parties running and 5 left. A country can have 60% of the people vote left, but the right still gets in because they only have two options sucking up votes. I hope that explains it okay, it's pretty much the reason Canada has a conservative government now. The Right only have one horse to bet on, so even though more people voted left (green, NDP, liberal) the Conservatives got majority. Infographic:

Conservatives are only 37%. Everything else on the pie is Left (and whatever the BQ is, but no one outside Quebec cares about them anyway).

Anyway, just saying the grass isn't always greener, we all got problems. Good luck, America, in your next election. It looks like you'll need it.

I say the alternative vote/instant runoff is a better way to vote for president. It allows for third party members to enter and you to vote for them without throwing away your vote or your vote essentially going to the people you hate the most.

Well I am incredibly proud of my 13 year old son! The first thing he did when my older son and I got home this afternoon was show us the Perry ad going on and on about how disgusting it was! He was looking on YouTube when he saw it. He and his brother were horrified by the ad.

they should make the voting system backwards. everyone votes for the people they don't want in office and the person with the least amount of votes is elected.

Also, why do we have to have a two party system? I think it would be better if there were six parties (just throwing out a number) and they had to form coalitions to get things done. As it stands, the government is mired in the molasses of politics. Two parties each blaming each other. Nothing gets done. It gets so old.

That's not ideal either.... our two latest governments took forever to form coalitions, and in Belgium only recently the coalition was formed after I think it was about 500 days of having no government....
