Huge disparity in Breeders

You start a thread after contacting 2..count em 2...people on here.
What a personally consider a nasty dig, a slap in the face to everyone here...
When I get an email from someone, I am happy to answer it. If they decide to buy from me I hope they are thrilled. Updates from people who have my animals make my day.
But after reading this thread, as far as your "experiance in this hobby" I just have to say, my giveadamn is busted. I honestly don't care if you are ever satisfied. And I am pretty sure I am not the only one here who feels this way.

Way to alienate an entire online community!!

Maybe this is not the hobby for you?

We were all new at one forum or another at some point. Each has its own flavour; they come with rules of conduct. It sometimes takes a person awhile to fit into a new community. Sometimes the eagerness to participate results in running into a few walls. I know it took me some time (and getting banned a couple of times) to grasp some concepts which took others not much time at all to come to terms with, though I don't know if they had been banned from other forums before coming to this one, and possibly learned from mistakes of the past. From my own experience, I have learned to not make hasty assumptions. Everyone has something to contribute. Whether it proves out to be positive, negative, the gray area between, is entirely up to them. The only person I have control over is my own self. There is no rule which states I must reply to every post as quickly as possible without stopping and taking time to carefully consider/think about- what was said, and come up with a well-thought-out-reply. If bothering to reply at all.

If I want to make an butthead of myself, that is my own choice and doing.
If someone else wants to do that, I will respect their choice, just as I would expect them to respect my choice. It's not a contest. But it can be interesting to watch. The person in a rush may not see the edge of the cliff until it is too late.

If I owned a business, or even a hobby in which I sold a product, I would welcome criticisms. It only helps me to hear of things I can improve upon. That was the purpose of this thread, to share my poor experiences and show breeders that every email is important as its easy to lose sight of that. Even if only one breeder reads this and realizes he/she needs to improve their customer service, then good. If the other 99 take it as a personal insult, that's a shame.

Nobody here knows you. You don't know anybody here.
You come in here, start this thread and tell alllll of us what we are doing wrong.
And you know what?? I have never ignored an email in my whole stinking life, but if you emailed me right now, I would!! I have dealt personally with at least a dozen breeders here, and have never once had a bad experiance. And you deal with 2 and post this crap? SERIOUSLY?????

You don't join a website and introduce yourself by knocking everyone else in the hobby.
You don't go all passive aggressive and whine about unupdated websites.
So you didn't get an answer to an email, maybe it was never recieved. Maybe the email server was down or put it in the spam file. Whoopdie do.

And you respond to that with THIS?????

Very wisely said, my friend.
I need to get a grip. I am so angry I am literally shaking.

Edited to add Your little lava girl you gave me, Twizzler, had a photo shoot this morning. She was a bit active but I managed to get a few good shots of her. They are in my forum. She is growing up nice. Thanks again!

Starsevol, you can't read. Only 2 of the 2 dozen I've contacted are from this site. Also, like I said, nobody in this thread has been a person I've contacted, so I'm not telling anybody directly what they're doing wrong. As I said in my last post, I only hope that some breeders may realize they need better customer service. The rest, like you, will take it personally.

Breathe my friend, do the ohhmmmm thing. Or like down here in redneck land...it would be uhrmmm or something. Me and Clem, we was a doing that thar medistating thing.

You know, good luck in this hobby.

...but I must say I don't think this whole thread was a good or well thought out idea.
I would say it will do nothing but alienate instead of enlighten.

You would be best served to walk away, let the thread die, and drop this passive aggressive back and forth. Take the high road and stop trying to get the last jab in. You will look much better in the long run. Right now you are destroying any credibility you had in this thread, by seeming petty and childish.

Again I will ask HAVE YOU CHECKED TO SEE IF THE PERSON THAT HASN'T RESPONDED EVEN BEEN ONLINE?

There are a few wonderful breeders that will tell you to email because their box gets to full on here or they just don't have the time to come on here to see if they have a messages. If they have not log on here we can help you by showing you how to send a message to their private email.

Crotalis, I believe you are a moderator. It's clear that all but a few responded emotionally instead of logically. That being so, you can go ahead and delete my membership, unless I can do that myself.

Yes I am a Mod, but no I can not delete your membership. And one can not delete thier own either. I would just step back and take a breath and start fresh. There are a lot of good people on here if you just take the time to actually get to know them. These sites have all types of folks and that is what makes them so great. So hang around I am sure you will find some that are as good as I am saying.

Oh lordy, this is good fun.

I also have a hobby that brings in a little cash, I mostly do it for fun. Sometimes I even do work for free, if it interests me. Much like the snake breeders here, it's a hobby. I care about my enjoyment much more than strangers who want to give me money. If I don't have time to reply to an e-mail? That isn't bad "customer service", that's my LIFE, my spare time, I'm gonna do what needs to get done and that might not involve replying to entitled "customers". Excuse me while I don't shed a single tear for your plight.

Ok bloody barroness, I completely agree with you and I thank you for making that point to me. I hope you and all of the other hobbyists in this thread understand that I was not attacking you personally.

Ah, but you are. Your main complaints, replies not prompt enough and out-of-date web sites are complaints you're making TO people who may not have the time for prompt replies or web site updating. That is the very definition of personal, and they are right to set you straight.

I have a feeling you're a tad entitled. Relax. You don't like someone? Don't buy from them. This whole thread was super unnecessary.

Ok well maybe if you are really interested in what they have available a PM might be better. Maybe your email got lost in all of the other emails. Like already suggested I would definitely check the BOI before contacting any breeders. Most the time I come across a nasty one they have a poor BOI to back it up and I won't do business with them any how. I can understand that if you have had negative contact it can be discouraging but stick with the private breeders that you find on here and you will have a much better experience.

Awww....

You posted something that called into question something most breeders are passionate about and they have every right to respond emotionally. Everyone in this thread actually gives a flying crap about what people think of our customer service. We tried to help you and then you suddenly went down hill.

I was really pleased by how both sides were working together all though this....

I do want to admit a deficiency in my complaint. It's something I hadn't considered and is the one thing I've learned from this thread. I underestimated the amount of breeders that are hobbyists. When a breeder has a website, I see them as a business. When I get short responses and disorganization, I get annoyed. There is no excuse for no replies. I understand now that many of you work very hard, and I very much respect you for it. But I cannot know who is a hobbyist and who is a business, so I apologize if you don't apply to my complaint. I just expect good customer service from a seller. I did not mean to question anybody's character or work ethic. I just found customer service to be questionable.

Ok bloody barroness, I completely agree with you and I thank you for making that point to me. I hope you and all of the other hobbyists in this thread understand that I was not attacking you personally. You all have beautiful snakes and I admire your passion and work. I, rather, was saying that I have experienced poor customer service by half of the breeders I've contacted. I really don't want anybody to feel personally insulted. If any of my comments have been personal, I sincerely apologize and assure you that it was not meant in that way. I am not taking my upcoming reptile purchase lightly, am putting a lot of thought into it and was just unhappy with a lot of my experiences.

Understood. Ok, both sides have said their peace. Take care everybody.

Those posts showed growth and maturity on your part. They well written and people got your point.

Then you start the assumption crap and more passive aggressive jabs.

Step back and breathe. Just breathe.

I don't know if I can be trusted. I couldn't find myself on there.

Tell us when you find yourself ..anywhere!! lol.

But anyway,

24 breeders where contacted, 12 responded to you, two of them where from here and 12 didn't respond back. Well, I'm sorry they didn't.

But you and your girlfrind both have corns now and all is well right?

Isn't that a country western song.

I don't think OP should leave, he made some accusations and now he he needs to explain, which he has yet to do. He in my opinion has not looked at this logically. All in this thread have offered to help or point him in good direction and yet he refuses to acknowledge. It is my opinion he wants all the answers to all his questions, which he could do research on. Given as many have explained this is a hobby for most and a busy time I believe it would be difficult to talk him through every aspect.
