Alan posted on my N.M.I. that he'd like to see pics of my Vietnamese Blue Beauty. Well, here she is! Her name is Kokoro - "Heart" in Japanese.

And (I couldn't resist), a couple of pics of her eating from her tree.

So, what do you all think! I think she's awesome!

Niiice! Thanks Fred. I like that look; 3 patterns, one snake. Is the lack of pattern near the head normal?

LOL. You replied while I was double posting!!!

Yes, the lack of patter after the head is typical of most VBB's and Taiwan Beauty snakes (I can't speak of the other beauties as I haven't owned them). The pattern changes are what attracted me to them in the first place.

Thanks, Torsten!

I think she's great. She gets very tempermental at times, so I respect her space... but she's usually pretty good when I get her out of the cage (typical for these "beauties").

I've got gloves for when she has that "certain look" in her eyes. LOL.

Very pretty. I have Taiwan beauties so I know what you mean by that look.

All of the "beauty" rat snakes have three patterns. Head body and tail. They also all have the black slash across the eyes.

what are there bites like?

Well, she hasn't actually bitten me, yet. I just want to be prepared because she HAS threatened and struck. I was bitten by a local coachwhip which was comparable in size to her (actually much THINNER than she is) and it did some damage to the point of having blood leak and drip to the ground (but I still held on as I didn't want to lose it!). So, based on that (and the fact that she's a little larger now), I'm sure that she can do some damage.

My wife is very leery of my snakes... so I don't want to have too many scars that can give her ammunition against this hobby I love. LOL.

Fred

Stunnning snake, I have been looking at them for a while now. I have been tagged by a baby, but in all honesty didn't realize what it was until I saw the blood.
I also like your set-up what we see looks really nice.

Why thanks! Its getting a little small for her and I'm looking at getting a 40-gallon breeder for her... but I would lose the "tree" you see her feeding in as 40-gallon breeders are - much to my surprise - not as "tall" as the 30-gallon I have her in now.

I tried to make this one look extra nice as its right there in our living room! LOL. The ones in the "snake room" are functional, but not as aesthetically pleasing.

She's simply just so gorgeous. I got to hold a big male at Daytona who was reaching out into the crowd trying to find new friends. If I ever cheat on cornsnakes again, this would be the top of my list.

Maybe glasscages.com delivers somewhere near you (maybe not, they are pretty much southeast). They have a HUGE selection of cage sizes, at great prices.

what are there bites like?

HORRIBLE!! They have about 70 LARGE teeth. I just gave away an adult pair of these guys. Gorgeous snakes, but VERY aggressive...at leats my two were. My male was 8 1/2' and still growing. I saw him tag a friend of mine, and it was one of the worst colubrid bites I've ever seen.

When they open-mouth hiss...you can count their teeth from 3 feet away. Like I said...they are gorgeous, but man...mine were VISCIOUS!!

Good luck with your girl! The guy I gave my pair to promised me a hatchling pair when he bred them. I would MUCH rather raise them from babies than take over with someone else's mistakes...that's the biggest reason mine were so dang aggressive...

Oh, yesss!!!

I do know how aggressive they can be. Her brother was still at the store after I bought her. I went to visit him and he must have struck at the cage 15 times. LOL.

I've made a promise to hold her at least every other day for increasing amounts of time. Since I've got LOTS of kids in the house, it would be behoove me to keep to that promise so she's much tamer the bigger she gets.

I've also made a promise to myself... that if I'm too afraid to hold her, then I'm not good enough to keep her. LOL. Giving her away for me, is NOT an option! LOL.

Nice Beauty Fred! I have a male Taiwan Beauty that I was fortunate to get from DaGaint/Gene. I love my little guy and he has a great temperament too!

Its a beautiful snake but their temperament reminds me of a snake my friend owned. It was a midwest snake called a prairie rat snake or pine snake.. No matter how much you held it it wouldn`t calm down. You couldn`t even get near it without it hissing, rattling its tail and striking at you.. I personally wouldn`t recommend them for anybody but the most experienced collector..

Sorry I hadn't responded. Didn't realize that this thread was still "alive".

LOL. Yeah. However, I get the feeling that part of owning one of these is to see if you can calm them down. Kokoro is actually doing really well. Haven't used gloves for her in the last month!

How big is your Taiwan Beauty now? I really, REALLY want another one of those, but since I've gotten more corns.... LOL!

I love your snake AND your green lantern shirt!
: D
Thanks! You don't know how many people stop me - even at the grocery store - to say that they love the shirt! Some stop me to ask what it means!

Let's see... who can finish this:
In brightest day and darkest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might,
.............................................

Finish it off!
