Science marches on

Can you fix your own mistakes or not? If you can not, you are wasting my time.

You really don't have a clue do you? I wasn't talking about grammar. I was talking about your points. Your points contain errors.

OK, look at the statements he made before the last sentence which was the question. Then look back and the posts prior to that. It should be pretty easy to pick them out.

Now, look back at the first few pages of posts. Read the posts and determine for yourself if people made rude comments to Russell.

I was not addressing the grammar used as I have already pointed out.

Just because people look confused when you rant, it doesn't necessarily mean you've gone over their heads you know. You might want to take a different approach here.

Oh, and we all fell for your clever plan! Silly us! How could we not see that one coming!

(Yawn.)

Dale

You forgot the most important part.
Those who know they are guilty are usually the most adamant at debating the comment.
So you need to drop the "we all" out of your comment and replace it with "I". I laughed so hard the first time you made the irony comment because you had no idea how ironic your statement was. Yes, you fell for it. You couldn't help it because you are a victim of human nature. I laughed at your comment about me being your little dancing puppet because I have controlled your strings this entire exchange.

I have grown bored with my new toy though. I would say thanks for the fun but you didn't have a choice.

I'm not really sure why anyone thinks I need defense! Statements were made, but it wasn't like bashing was going on! Seriously, I didn't take anything that was said in a bad way. It was expected responses to what I said. It isn't popular to be a fundamental bible believing Christian, so I fully expect to get a bit of flack from those who don't feel the same as I do. It's like water off a ducks back to me! No different than my love of snakes! Trust me, most fundementalist christians hate snakes just like the rest of the general population, but do we let such comments about our hobby bother us? No! And it shouldn't! Just like people thinking I'm out there and voicing their opinion on it about my being a Christian. I guess when your truly proud of something, and are in no way ashamed of it, it's really rather hard to offend! An earlier statement was made, that thos who are so offended and quick to get so defensive are indeed weak and not so sure of the stand they have. Think about it!

So to those who think I need defending, uh I'm flattered, but seriously, I'm fine, I never even thought twice of it! LOL! Thanks!

I don't think this discussion got out of hand at all! But definetly WAY off the original post!

Try to have a nice day everyone! There never was a fire to be put out! Put the buckets away!

Russell, Now that was a truly awesome post and I'm not saying that just because you recently sent me some money either...lol.
Seriously, I have gained great respect for you and your views throughout this thead, so some good has come of it all...character insight!
Best to you Sir.

Russell - I as well believe you deserve giant kudos for this post. Like many have said before in this thread, even if we don't agree on what each of us believes, most of us at least can respect the other person's beliefs and points of view. Which I think is the most important point in this entire discussion.

It is good that we can discuss, without bashing, and still have an appreciation for where another person is coming from. If the whole world could be like that - there would be a lot less problems!

And Off topic - I would bet on Dale in a battle of wits any day!!

Yeah, what a world that would be indeed if we could just discuss and not get all offended and personal and stuff, and feelings, oh I mean, egos hurt... Yes what a world that would be...

And yes...I believe Dale is the god of Wit and Irony!

wow Russell, I can't say believe in your fundamental bible believing Christian stuff but that post was really just awesome. *rep*

Stuff like that gets me to respect Christians a little more, it does a much better job than those who need to "prove" they're right.

This thread is a real lesson in debate techniques. I feel bad I missed all the fun last night but enjoyed reading it this morning.

Sfaoldguy had a great deal to say without saying anything. I’m proud of you guys for giving him so much time with so little substance in return.

Tom e, I love this.

Just because people look confused when you rant, it doesn't necessarily mean you've gone over their heads you know. You might want to take a different approach here.

Russell, I don’t agree with your beliefs on religion. I think it is really great that I can say that without making you mad. I also can live with the fact that you don’t agree with my beliefs on evolution. That is what makes discussion interesting.

Albinoscooby, you should read more and say less.

Thanks Wade. We knew if we kept it up we could draw him out and release our elaborate trap.
Our trap is quite simple really, it's purpose is to find out which of the comic book archetypes we were he most resembled.. But more than that it's very important to allow your opponent to give himself away.

I'm proud to say I've been pondering his koans all night and I've figured it out.

Jazz, meet your opponent.

Thank you Nanci. That was a good read. I believe the quote below taken directly from the paper sums up the investigators' thoughts on the matter, and it does a pretty good job of summing up my own. Whereas the media is exclaiming "MISSING LINK FOUND" the scientists that conducted the study are more hesitant to make such an assertion which is the sign of a true scientist.

Note that Darwinius masillae, and adapoids contemporary with early tarsioids, could represent a stem group from which later anthropoid primates evolved, but we are not advocating this here, nor do we consider either Darwinius or adapoids to be anthropoids.

What has this to do with my prickitude?

Thanks for this post Russell. Glad you are still hanging out near this thread with your own sincere and respectable point of view. And glad you are still posting.
Often around midnight, like I did last night, I start nodding off and get auto-logged out.
Goodness, I almost feel like I have to reread this whole thread every morning, or every time I post. It's gone in some directions I naively had not anticipated. But thanks for being one who reels good spirit and moderate temperament back into the thread.

And to sfaoldguy and albinoscooby, please be careful with words like the "p---k" word and people being "nuts" or "having something wrong with them". In the heat of the moment I have received infractions for going too far with the language, both obvious and implied, and I don't want that to happen to anyone here. I say this with only the friendliest and kindest intentions, and because I started this thread,....and don't want it to turn into an ugly thing.

NOTE : But funny and/or silly is perfectly fine with me. All hail Tina Turner.

I have to agree...

I admire the way Russell has stated, and stuck by his convictions, and in a non-inflammatory manner. I don't agree with him, but I still admire his posts. He proves that it IS possible to debate an emotional subject in a respectful way.

Other than Russell, however, I found it interesting that the "scientist" side posters seem to show considerably more tolerance to the religious viewpoint than vice versa. Not surprising, I guess, but interesting.

Here are some of the quotes that illustrate my point.

I know it won't change anyone's mind, but it's nice for those of us who believe in facts to have more puzzle pieces. Too cool.
Russell, there are so many things I would like to tell you, so many wonders I could show you. I a day of awe and marvel, how sad it must be to be blind.

By Zeus, you've got it!

Holy Buddha Tom I think you have got it.

Why is that specific part of the bible immutable? Christians in modern society ignore uncomfortable sections of the bible at will, why is the Genesis story so much more sacrosanct than others?

Question : Why did God not bestow extensive internet rules and etiquette to Moses, during the wanderings of/for the two generations? Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox, Safari. Not once did God mention these things to Moses and the Israelites. Why?
He was too busy planting fake monkey bones with Tina Turner nails to fool future scientists. j/k vetusvates
Out of all the quotes you made, the first one by me was the only one that sounded prickleish to me. The others were just disagreeing. My comment was rude. I should have made statement rather than being “snarky”. But then I’m a snarky guy.

What I should have said was----Russell, don’t you think you are ignoring a lot if information and facts by saying that if it isn’t in the bible you won’t hear it?

Is that better?
