Finally am able to put some pics of Shazam up on. Here he is!!! He IS getting darker. He's also in the blue (at least he looks like he does after his eyes clear up). His belly looks kinda milky too.

I'll try to post more pics of him on this thread as he grows.

Thanks fof looking!

That is one snake I am sooooooo hoping to get one day. Hopefuly sometime this next year.
Thanks for showing him to us!
I hope you get one soon! You'll love one. He is one NERVOUS snake though... quick to. I guess he's just not used to me YET. LOL.

hes really nice
Thanks!
I can't wait to see his progression! I think I would choose an MBM over an MBK.
I'll try to dig up some earlier pics so that you could see what (if any) has happened thus far. I think he's "a little" darker than previously.
Nice. looker
lol but what would happen if he doesnt change color??
Thank you! At least we'll know he wouldn't be poisonous. I don't think coral snakes (or scarlet kings) get to be seven foot monsters! LOL.

Nice addition!

Fred, you're signature's getting longer and longer. Keep in mind you're only allowed 4 lines, that should curb your buying!;)

Yay! I'm glad to see Shazam again! :) He's looking really good! He's tipping nicely, too. I have to say I doubt he's anything but a Black milk. ;) If you've got something else, then so do I. LOL
As for the nervousness, I noticed initially Joakim was really spazzy. That went away with regular handling sessions, and he's very calm with me. (He's still a little spazzy with anybody else, though. LOL)
Just out of curiosity, do you have weight and length on Shazam? Last I checked, Joakim weighed in at 60 grams, and he was a little over 21 inches. (i'm sure he's grown since then, though.) They're really compact compared to Corns - it's really interesting to compare.
Thanks for sharing him with us! :D

Thanks, Danny! The sig is limited to 4 lines OR 300 characters... I'm already AT that limit... so some get left off... :awcrap:

Also, no more buying for me... according to my wife!!!

OMG did you name him after Billy Baston? Because for a snake that changes so much, I think Shazam is the perfect name, haha.
YUP! I loved that comic and seeing Billy change into Shazam on TV (anyone remember that live TV show?). What great days. So in honor of the "Big Cheese," I named him Shazam.

Thanks, Suzy! I'm so glad that I gave in and got him too. I have to find my other pics of him... but they were on the other computer (the one that crashed), so I'll probably have to run a recovery program. LOL.
I'm gonna have to do the handling sessions with him too. Won't do to have a really MEAN 7 footer in the house. Already have one in the works (Luna - the LTR - LOL).

I'll try to get some weights on him after he poops. Tonight is feeding night! I do know that he's nowhere near 60 grams...

What a great addition Fred. I can't believe he will be Black one day.
Like the choice in name to.
Thanks, Tim. I too have a hard time believing that the color change will happen. BUT, I'll be there watching! As for the name... I think it is PERFECT for him too.

Also... here's a link to his first thread... only a couple of months... but he's grown a little!!!

He's looking fantastic Fred! I'll bet you're just like me when it comes to their color change... "Wait wait wait... That scale has just a wee bit more of a black tip than it did last week! YAAAAAAAAY!!!"

That picture of your daughter in the background is absolutely priceless. Reminds me of my step-son when I tried to introduce him to the spiders :grin01: Is he eating without the teasing now? How odd that he requires the teasing, yet my female isn't interested unless the rat pink is stone still and slightly cold.

Make sure you post more pics after he sheds!

I think I might have a few pics from before he arrived... let me see what I can do :) And he is from San Antonio Zoo stock. His dam and sire are absolutely stunning. Don't you worry... he'll look like jet black silk rope by the time he grows up :D

Yeah, you definitely should do that. :) I love seeing pictures of Black Milks, and I don't see nearly enough of them on CS.com. As far as I know there's about 5 members on here who have them - we need to convert more people! LOL
What Joakim did when I initially got him was, he would act like normal and then all of a sudden he would try to dart out of my hands over nothing. It was really frustrating, but I worked with him, and he hasn't been doing it much anymore as of late. I can completely understand what you mean, though. I wouldn't want anything to do (right now, anyway. Maybe in the future - LOL) with a 7+ foot colubrid that bites and musks all the time.
Cool! Just out of curiosity, do you use iHerp? It's what I use for my snakes, and it's a nice tool to be able to use. :) I don't know how old Shazam is, but he'll probably be fairly close to that. Joakim's a little over 4 months of age, and he hit the 60 gram mark last week. He's been on fuzzies for a few months and gaining weight at a good pace.

I just wanted to apologize if this is all out of place and rambly. I just woke up and i'm having sleeping problems. LOL

Hurrah he looks lovely! I wish Noir was a baby again, I miss those colours so much. And you will soon too....

Oh and meant to say guys (Jynx too), you both seem to have picky eaters, or well not as enthusiastic as they could be. I could barley get the food into Noirs tub before he would throw himself on it. What temps are you keeping them at? Remember they like it much much cooler than corns, like 80-82 with an ambient in the high 60's.

Thanks, Elle - for the nice comment and for the advice. I've already taken that into account and have made sure that his temps are WAY different than those of my corns. Chip mentioned it on a thread before and I made sure to follow his "sage" advice.

Don't get me wrong. He EATS... he was fed live before either Catherine or I got him. I've been switching him over since I got him. Fortunately, he has eaten just about everything I've given him.

Thanks so much for "watching my back!".
