Yeah, I know, 2007 is almost half over with now.....
But I'm still working on it. Since I cut out a lot of adult breeders last year, I was able to cut down the list of animals I will be producing substantially. So that has helped. Just need to take a hard look at the pricing and maybe if I have time update some text or photos.
Got a snag I can't figure out what to do about, so figure I would run it by some people here.
I'm breeding quite a few animals that will be throwing both Ultra and Hypomelanism offspring, and I noted in the past that they are very difficult to tell apart visually. I believe I kept most of them for that reason. I think Ultras should be in pretty high demand, but the problem is that if I can't really tell them apart, I really can't sell them. And I certainly don't want to keep them all, by any stretch of the imagination, again this year.
So what do I do with them? Just bulk them all out as a mixed bag to the wholesalers and say to heck with it? Or would anyone be interested in buying them under the knowledge outlined above? They are all possible to be het other genes, of course, so there will be a sort of grabbag flavor to them. I'm thinking if I put the price at $50 each, then do the 50 percent out of egg discount on them (yeah I know, I'd better HURRY!), then that puts them into a very reasonable price range to work with.
So what do you think? Anyone interested in this?
Now I know someone is going to ask me if I will mark them as to what the other genes are that might be in there, and I have to say "no". I just think it best for me to withhold some information on my latest projects, for obvious reasons.
OK, is this just a dumb idea, or what?
