CRAZY BOUT' CORNS !!
Walter,
When you ID an Ultra as an Ultra,
do you go by the head marker, eye color, or visual overall color?
Or a combination of 2 or all 3 of those markers?
I think you have a LOT more experience than me with Ultra.
Also, in the case of individual corns without the triple prong head marker,
but still having the "Lemonhead" coloring, (or extra yellow near the head on the dorsal)
is that placement of yellow generally an indicator of being possible het for ultra?
Curiously,
dp
Dave,
Sorry for the late reply on your question. I actually didn't know it was here until I came back today to re-read all of what Buzz posted.
Reason,.....the breeding of this mystery girl I did this year is just starting to pip today. I'll be posting the results once they all hatch.
ANYWAY,
I go by eye color alone. As far as the other stuff you mention, I have no idea???
Anyway, here is a comparison pic. of a Ultra Anery (bottom) & Ultramel Anery (top) eye color.
I typically stay away from any breedings (Ultramel X Ultramel) that can produce both Ultras & Ultramels in the same clutch as to NOT have to identify between the two.
Ultramels are "USUALLY" lighter in body color than Ultras, but you can't always rely on that.
