Pssst...Got Corn??
Illegals place economic strain on States whose budgets are already strained. Illegals can't pay taxes they don't have SS #'s, can't get legal insurance so they drain State insurance funds, clog up already crowded jails, and raise already high crime rates- they are a burden.
Racial profiling won't solve the problem. I don't disagree that there is economic strain caused by the vast number of illegals in the U.S. But immigration reform is at a stand still, as are many issues that are causing economic burdens as long as both parties can't sit down and address the issues.
clog up already crowded jails
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but does this law not enable Arizona to put all caught illegals into jail? Does that not just add to the financial burden? At least Joe Arpeio went on Larry King Live tonight and stated just that. They will toss everyone in jail that is apprehended and found to be in the U.S. illegally. Doesn't that also override Federal juristiction? I believe that is about to be challenged in court.
All we can do is send them home to countries who don't punish them for leaving since it eases their budgets when their gone, and therefore they come right back.
Mexico, and many countries don't have laws prohibiting people from leaving the country. The Cold War ended in case nobody told you. As far as many of them returning, I guess they are hoping for their piece of the American dream. Doesn't make it right, but many of them come from impoverished regions. I think if they were making ends meet in their own country, and able to provide for their families, they would probably remain. Other than breaking immigration laws, many of them are not criminals, they are just looking for a better life. As for those who are the criminal element, certainly they should be detained and tougher measures taken to prevent them from returning. But don't paint all illegals as equal.
It's not Arizona's fault Mexico happens to be the country they border with or that the bulk of the illegals there happen to be from Mexico- it's kinda a no brainer yes the law targets the population most likely to be breaking the law- duh!
Targets is the key word here. Those same targets are on the backs of people of hispanic origin or Mexicans that have entered the country legally and are now subject to prove they belong in the U.S. anytime they have legal occasion (very vague perameters) to have contact with law enforcement. Duh!
I propose we ship all of our illegals to Canada and then your country can figure out how to get them to come in legally- would that work for you?
Canada has it's own immigration issues. We still have illegals here who dodged the Vietnam war. No skin off my backside.
I don't think anywhere did I declare support for illegal immigration. I think if illegals are caught, they should be deported if grounds support such action. Your country and my country have laws provided for such action. Immigration in Canada is in the hands of the federal government however.
