To me, corn snake politics ranks right up there with plastic surgery for pets and spray-on hair as stupid concepts. It's just snakes! :shrugs:

I'm not sure... but if this was in any way directed toward me... sorry for causing any fires. Just trying to give my opinion and not step on anyones toes in the process... as if that's possible sometimes.

Hey Stephanie... sorry if anything I said hurt your feelings or upset you. It wasn't meant to... if that helps any.

Bo has some callouses, as he prefers to sleep on a tile floor instead of his dog bed.

What are your opinions on spray-on pet fur? ;)

wow, was Not you, not Katie, only one person, and he knows full well who he is. Someone finally got fed up with playing mr. nice guy. I've flipped! But on the other hand glad people are stepping back and going, wow, maybe I should see it on that side of the coin. But really, I realize the person who I'm directing this at is NOT going to look at that side of the coin, cause he's unable to do so. Cause he doesn't want to. He'd rather be the shark and just jump into things and try to cause trouble. Period.
And then try to walk away smelling like roses.

Ok guys, pretty please keep it nice. I see this starting to get a bit heated. Brent is a stand up guy and I understand why he is saying what he is. I also understand why you do not get why I highly dislike the name.

Via private message AA brought up the whole "Cornsnake Supper Club" way before it was mentioned publicly. I told her then that I disliked it, and she understood. Had no idea this would blow out of porportion.

1) "Supper" is a term used by my Grandmother (specifically Breakfast, Supper & Dinner instead of Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner). Some people don't even know what "Supper" is. Depends on where you grew up. No offense intended, but it sounds very...Old? I'm not sure how to describe it. It's kind of like me saying "selector" when other people say "remote control." The average person has no clue what I'm talking about when I ask for the "selector."

2) I don't see it as being a "club." A "club" in my opinion is is a group of people that get together monthly (think Girl Scouts or 4-H ~ I myself was a 4-H dweeb  ). This is more of an annual event then a club, in my opinion.

Dean's description of how he would have handled this whole thing is exactly what I was thinking of doing. It would prevent argument, because there would only be one choice. BUT I thought it would be more appreciated by the Cornsnake community if I gave choices. I did give in to allow everyone there choosen T-Shirt color (within the Black/White/Grey option), which does put a little bit more work on me...I will have to adjust color depending on the shirt color and I'm sure I'll go just about cross-eyed keeping everyones specific colors straight. I also dropped Cornsnakes.com from the shirt completely to keep peace between the groups.

I think that's about it for now. :)

Opportunist that I am, you can all now call me the Don King of Cornsnakes.

I've booked the Minot Civic Center on April 15th (to coincide with that other painful experience) for a CAGE MATCH!!!!

Bell Time is 8:00 pm, everyone.......so BE THERE!!!!

(Now, where can I get some promotional T-Shirts made?) :grin01:

Stephanie - Thank you very much for taking the time to explain this. I am sure not only myself, but others here appreciate it along with all the other hard work you have been doing on this.

My own personal opinion? I honestly think we should have one more poll - that also includes the option you had suggested as an alternative to the "Cornsnake Supper Club". I believe it was along the lines of Annual Cornsnake Dinner - I apologize if my wording does not exactly match how you put it. I think it is close enough to appease those (again this is MY opinion) who liked the Supper Club idea.

If not, so be it. Like I have said before - I will end up getting a tshirt regardless of color or what it says as I still firmly believe that it is what the shirt stands for that really matters - a bunch of cornsnake enthusiasts from everywhere/anywhere/nowhere - getting together to have fun and talk shop.

Katie, you said that the next time you were up here at "headquarters", that you'd stop in for a visit.

Given the last of those three locations, I see you're already familiar with Palmyra. ;)

(And I'm in agreement here...I repped Steph for explaining herself so well and keeping a cool head amid the sound and the fury....)

Hmmm. I thought it meant Supper Club as a place, not a group. Like my mom and dad used to go to restaurants called supper clubs. Kind of old-fashioned sounding now, but in their day they were ritzy.

In my family, we always called the main meal of the day "dinner" and the evening meal, Monday through Saturday, was dinner, but on Sunday, the meal we ate at noon right after church was dinner.

What if it didn't call the event anything, just said the date, the place, and a statement like- I don't know, just throwing it out there, I Heart Cornsnakes or Daytona is for Cornsnake Lovers, or something?

Just a thought to throw confusion into the mix!

I can't edit the polls here. :(

Maybe one of our super cool new mods could do it for me?! :)

I would like the color options removed...Add "2007 Daytona Beach Cornsnake Dinner" & "Daytona is for Cornsnake Lovers" (LOVE the idea, Nanci!). Also please allow multiple votes and for those who already voted, the option to edit/remove there vote to revote. If it can't be done, I'll make another poll if I have to and ask that the poll on this one be removed to avoid confusion.

LMAO!! I have been to NOWHERE Florida and NOWHERE, Ohio so I am sure I would feel right at home in Palmyra!!
Looks like maybe sometime in May might be the next trip.

We had a name last year? :shrugs: Whatever works I guess...I just had fun seeing everyone and trying to ID everyone in pictures. Then again we could just keep it simple by putting the date on it. Whatever works. I kinda agree with Stef that "supper" makes me think of my grandmother but I could deal if I had to. I just want a pretty shirt.

You're definitely a child of the 70s.

Remember this tourism promotion that started back then?

(When I sang in DC during the Bicentennial, I admit that I bought one for myself.)

Damn! I have that shirt in my closet but mine is white. No... really! My aunt lives in Virginia and sent it to me a few years back. Lol

Can I have a corn snake t-shirt even though I won't be attending?! IE order it and have the lovely kind Stephanie send it out when I'm in the states in June? (saves on international shipping)

Personally I like black with white bold writing and I know I wont be at any of these shows but I dont think Daytona should be written on the shirts. Im sure some members will want to wear these shirts to smaller shows throughout the year?! Why make it a Daytona only shirt, or is that the only point in making the shirt?

Yeah, I suppose these days you'd have to say "I <3 Cornsnakes"

Elle, I think they want it to say "Daytona" so it is commemorative.

International shipping isn't that much. There's a fixed rate big envelope (Global Priority) that's like $8. I have fit a T-shirt, two magazines and a small paperbook into one that size.

Oh don't worry, Russell is talking about ME and only ME. Talk about taking things personally and singly someone or some thing out . . . I'm not going to let it get ugly, I'm just going to step aside and let the Mr. Keys train rumble on through. It's interesting that YOU, Mr. Keys, should impart YOUR opinion on my meaning and/or thoughts that are portrayed by my words. This is not the first time in the last 3 weeks you have done this. Why are YOU doing your best to make ME look bad? I can do that on my own thank you very much. It's interesting that YOU, Mr. Keys, are able to read my mind and know what side of the coin I have investigated (there's 3 sides to each coin BTW).

Sorry, I guess the time frame I viewed was wrong . . . nope, not really. So Russell, where'd you hear the name they used at last year's dinner? You weren't there, yet you come here and tell Stef that's the name? And I'm jumping into things like a shark? Trust me, I don't smell like roses, nor do I want to. That would imply perfection. I'm the last person in this discussion that thinks his doo-doo don't stink . . .

yep, and to try to drag The Source people into it, acting as if they are the evil ones and oh, fire up your torches, grab your pitchforks...

Come on! I think Steph did a good job, and it's a select few trying to cause a fire out of the deal.
Talk about over reacting! Didn't mention pitchforks once. Didn't NAME The Source once, yes I have implied it, but if the shoe fits . . . Did you miss the part where I said I go there to read up on information that isn't posted here? Anyway, Ms. Hurley or Mr. Pritzel can't come here themselves to impart their wisdom and knowledge and opinion concerning this important naming procedure for the official shirt? Especially since they have been implied (by so many others) to be the ones that came up with it?

Maybe you should go back and reread my posts. Never once blasted the GREAT job Stef IS doing. Was only backing up her reaction to some perceived greivances that people were throwing at her in person and via 2nd party.

Stef, good luck with the T-shirts. Good luck with the dinner. Too bad I probably can't/won't be there to partake in the food fight.
