Determining Kitten Age?

I just got this adorable kitten from the shelter. The shelter picked up her and her litter as strays, so they don't know the exact birthdate. They guessed her birthday was April 28th, which would make her a few days over 5 weeks old.

She weighs 13.1 ounces/371 grams. I can't quite tell if she has premolars yet. If she does, they have only just erupted, because they're the size of grains of salt and I only see those specks on one side of her mouth. Her eyes are still blue, so I'm not sure if she will keep them or if she will grow out of them.

What age would you suggest she is?

She will be going to the vet for a checkup in a few days, so I will get their opinion too. Just thought I would check with you guys first because I know there are some vets/techs/kitten fosterers on here.

Sorry for the gunk around her eyes. I'm working on cleaning her up, but I don't want to stress her out too much on her first day here. The pictures make her look a lot larger than she is.

Check for the bottom pre-molars. Those come in during weeks 4 to 6. I'd say 5 weeks sounds reasonable based on her facial maturity, though.
 
Thanks for replying. She does appear to have premolars on the bottom. I tried to get a picture but her tongue was in the way.
 
I'm not a vet tech, but I can tell...

She is just adorable! Her eyes do look slightly baby colored still, I would guess her at certainly no more than 7 weeks old, 5 to 6 weeks seems more likely to me though.
Does she have a name yet?
 
I would go with 6 weeks based on her size and looks. She is very pretty, i love her looks, she seems quite alert, Kittens of 5 weeks are just starting to get that curiosity and alertness, so i would go with 6 weeks. good luck with her.
 
Size isn't a good way to tell with kittens. I had two rescues give birth at the same time. One had 3 kittens the other had 13. 6 weeks later the ones from the momma cat that only had 3 kittens were twice the size of the other ones from the litter of 13 (only 8 survived)

Just looking I would say less than 6 weeks.

Oh, baby princess! She is stunning! I would say about 5 weeks, I guess she was separated from her mama. I love calicos, they are so beautiful.

With her eye goo, a warm, damp washcloth will wipe those crusties away. I have to do it every day with one of my Ragdolls, he displays more of the Himalayan traits (weepy eyes, shorter nose) than most Ragdolls do so I have to clean them all the time. But he knows as soon as he is done he gets treats, so he puts up with it! And he is my only boy, so he is so worth it.

Her eyes will probably stay that beautiful blue.

You know, if there were another kitten at the rescue, two are no more work than one and twice the fun!!! Just sayin'.

And if you move back I would cat sit for you for free!

You know, the shelter was having a buy one get one sale on their cats and kittens. They had her sister as well, who was a Siamese looking little girl and I really would have liked to get her too, but there's only so much I can badger the old fiance! ;)

I disagree, two means more poop to scoop. We've had a lot of cats usually 3-4 at a time. We were down to two and Now that we just have one the cleanup is much less taxing. And I always used to say you should have at least two cats so they have a companipn, but this one has a buddy to curl up with....

Having twice the poop is the only thing that I don't like. She is definitely trying to bond with my pug, but he's not quite sure what to think of her.
 
I agree she looks about 5 weeks and she is so stinkin cute. I however have to disagree with the two is just as easy as one. It is true up to a point. Shoot a whole litter is as easy as 1 but then you get to that stage and you have two clawing your feet in the middle of the night, two climbing curtains, two chasing each other around the house knocking stuff over. Nope out of all the cats I took in, the single ones were the best.

Omg yes I totally forgot about the play factor of multiple kittens as my most recent multicat household was mostly middle aged.
