Around Here Somewhere....
It has been brought to my attention that Robbie will not be able to emcee our normal dinner/raffle on saturday night so it has been suggested we move it to Friday night since most of us can't picture it without Robbie doing the honors.
I wanted to get some feedback on this from everyone. It really doesn't matter to me which night we do it. My only concerns would be for anyone not planning on arriving until Saturday (although all the rooms I have booked so far have at least been arrivals on Friday) and if anyone is going to be willing to part with money ahead of the show for the raffle.

Thoughts, feedback, discussion?

Also - I would really really appreciate it if someone had time to start trying to "gather" up donations for the raffle? Finding out who is willing to donate, what they can donate, if they are bringing it with them or need to ship ahead of time etc.

It was much easier for me to run all of this when I worked at home, but with this new job, crazy hours, long drive etc.... I am having a hard time staying on top of all of it.

I dont think we would have our normal attendance on a Friday night. Plus people want to see the show for a day before putting money in for a raffle. And the fact that most of us will be traveling on Friday, and tired. I think we should keep it on Saturday... IMO.

If I'm able to attend the raffle Saturday would work best for me. Im thinking I'd rather save my money until after I see the show also. And hopefully I can bring a donation.

As much as I would miss Robbie emceeing the raffle, I, too, think Saturday will be better as you will get the larger crowd and they will be more apt to spend their left-over money instead of saving it for the expo.

And I plan on donating raffle prizes again this year as well as picking up some door prizes, all of which will come with me, but if winners need them shipped afterwards, I can handle that as well.

Thanks for the input thus far guys. Any other comments, suggestions and ideas are welcome.

And if we do keep it on Saturday - would anyone like to volunteer to emcee for us?

Because of delays I didnt make it until Saturday last yr,
Missing the raffle would have been a big bummer to us..

If hubby and the kids DO make it to Daytona this year, I volunteer hubby to be emcee. We both have experience performing in front of people, but I need to memorize a script. He can ad lib. I will also give him something to do and not feel like a fifth wheel.

I really hope you make it Jeff - wouldn't be the same without you!

Awww shucks....you make me blush. ;)

I am working on it and hope I can make it but my new job starts a few weeks before that and I have no idea what kind of teaching/research schedule I will be on. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I won't be in until later on friday. Saturday is a much better day. Also I plan on donating, I have some asf's and maybe some siamese rats and possible a pair of snakes. Who is taking the donations when I get in?

Typically you just bring them down a bit before the dinner so we can arrange things.
