Snake, rattle, roll: GOP targets python rule

Right- Daytona in 2010 was horrifying from the vendor's POV. I _heard_ that there was a meeting between FWC and USARK and Wayne Hill to try to come to an agreement to tone things down a bit.

But- there's no reason vendors should be there without the $50 permit- it's not like it's at all difficult to obtain, and now that they know ahead of time that they need to be able to provide paperwork to show the animals are captive-bred, that shouldn't be a problem either.

Lavender that was very well played. You almost got me. I sat here and started to write a serious reply to your rant, and suddenly realized that you simply must be joking. There is no way that an intelligent, reasonable, and even moderately intellectual individual could possibly be seriously implying that the use of the standard Gregorian calendar could somehow be misinterpreted as "proof" of god's existence, and further "proof" that our forefathers intended our country to be a Christian-ruled state. That was a good one. At least you didn't use the bible...

And a true Democracy prevents mob rule. That's how our system is designed to work. Our Constitution is designed to prevent mob rule. Our electoral process is designed to prevent mob rule. Our entire political system is established on the basis of preventing mob rule. If it were not so, we would not have a tri-level system of legislation, an Electoral College, and a distinct system of checks and balances. They may not always work the way we, as individuals want them to, but they are there for that specific purpose.

And yes...Bill Nelson is an idiot. He uses sensationalism, fear, and ignorance to garner support. Hopefully, good science and honest research will win out over sensational media and ignorant fear. We can all help that happen by, first of all, being very careful who we vote for, and voting for political records instead of propogandized media. We can also help by joining groups like USARK and PIJAC, and helping to show the strength of these lobbyists. And we can do like Nanci does, and publicly call our representatives on their BS, hold them accountable for deception, and forcing them to work for US...the way it's supposed to be...

So Nanci, just curious,

Are the prices of other snakes in FL going up since breeders are having a harder time selling the larger, more expensive snakes?

Now that a democrat is in office, the republican mantra seems to have done a 180, claiming that the war is something Obama needs to get us out of. My how short the memory of republicans can be.

Just a point of reference and a statement.

1. Contrary to popular belief, I am not a republican but I am surely not a democrat either. Nope, not a tea bagger either. What I am is an American and very much a free think for myself and what I feel is best for myself and my children.

2. Regarding the quote above, technically speaking, you are right, GWB got us in this crap storm, not Obama. I disagree that in his second term people who didn't support GWB were labeled as unpatriotic or terrorist sympathizers. Most of the country was fed up with him, his approval rating indicated that. HOWEVER, a democratic congress kept us in that war, good ole GWB couldn't single handely keep us there. AND in several of the debates and as part of his campaign platform, Obama DID 100% state he would have us out of the war by a certain time frame (1-2 years). Only an idiot would have voted for him based on a belief in that promise. Sorry to use the strong word Idiot, but that is what the uneducated voters were (still are). They had blind faith if they thought he could do that within 2 years. There was no assurances if congress would be democratic or republican so how could he make concrete assurances? The answer is he couldn't. He did what any other politician does to get elected, he said what the masses wanted to hear.

3. How do I tie this back to our original topic, simple, our leaders are uneducated themselves on most issues they rule on and even when people try to educate them it doesn't help. It will take a deep pocketed lobby to stop the bans, that is just the facts. No one needs to fool themselves into thinking a petition of 10,000 names is simply enough. This country is ruled by the money and that is what will be needed to stop this. The only other option would be for states to sue the federal government over the bans but I doubt that will happen. Look no further than Arizona's illegal immigrant ban, the Cherokee "slave" fiasco now or the numerous states who have sued the government over mandidated health insurance. I am not stirring those pots, simply making the point that even when the states stand up to the federal goverment, they fight back with their lawsuits or threats against states monies thus dragging issues out for long periods of time, sometimes decades. Of course that is just my opinion.

I don't know the answer to that. Doubtful, though, except for new morphs. For myself, I would call the market I'm selling to stable, promising even.

I couldn't agree more. There isn't a single point of contention to be made, save for one...

I don't blame the voters for being gullible. By the time GWB was leaving office, the American people were simply fed up with everything. Obama gave us "hope" for "change", and that is precisely what we, as a society, desperately needed.

Did "we" fall for another line of BS from another politician? Yea, probably a little bit. But what was the option? Another 4 years of GWB in the form of McCain with quite possibly the worst potential VP in history?

I don't think it's fair to blame the American people for looking at Obama through rose colored glasses. Our options were so limited. Our choices were to elect GWB's whipping boy and a retarded running mate, or fall for Obama. I, like most other people, am not satisfied with the job that Obama has done in office. But I am THRILLED that we didn't elect the other 2.

Unfortunately, many elections over the last 20 years or so have been a choice of whom we hate least, not whom we like most. That's a sad state of affairs...

I couldn't agree more. I can't tell you the times I have said "well, I don't like or trust either of the candidates, but I voted for what I felt was the lesser of two evils.

Unfortunately, these "lesser evils" are also the people who dictate our percieved happiness via reptiles and reptile busnisses and enthusiasts are in the vast minority hence the "deep pocketeed lobbyist" line of thought.

On the topic of lesser of two evils, anyone see the South Park where they were voting for a new school mascot? It was between a turd sandwich and a giant douche. Pretty much describes any election in the US.

Yea, I saw that. And I'm pretty sure that was the point behind that episode...

I didn't see it. But that is pretty much how I usually feel when I vote most of the time.
