Striped Ultramelaner (aka Ultramel Anerythristic Striped cornsnake)

Well, it isn't out the egg all of the way yet, but I figured, "Why wait? Someone MIGHT just want to see an image of one."

I'm guessing male, but some of that is just hopeful thinking.....lol. BTW, that's a snow in the upper right. Daddy - Ultramel Anerythristic Motley ph stripe (proven het stripe now). Mommy - Snow motley het stripe. The Sire is the ultramanermot that was posted 2 years ago here, too! What a story, eh?

(Disclaimer: there is a small chance it'll turn into a striped motley before crawling out of the egg completely......lol. I still was too excited to wait and see!)

Thanks, Robbie/Torsten!

The clutch was 19-0-0...which means 19 eggs / all were good. I don't remember if any went bad during incubation. I'll know when I count the babies....lol.

I hope to have some more. I have a double from that pair, a striped snow that was bred to an ultramel het aner stripe, and??? I leave the "and" blank because I'm drawing a blank! I KNOW I should have had 4-5 clutches where I hoped to see these guys, but I can't remember the others right now.....too many eggs!

Congrats KJ! Can't wait to see it come all the way out. Make sure you update us.

Would/could you call that and ultra snow?

How do you tell him apart from the snow? Can't wait to see him all dried off! Congratulations!

I'd be hesitant to use that term since ultra and amel are allelic. It isn't like a hypo snow where you have an animal that is homozygouse for three different mutations. I'll stick with ultramel anerythristic (or ultramelaner) myself.....mostly because it just makes me giggle to say it that way.....lol. I never liked the "ultramel" term, so I have fun taking it to the obvious extreme.

Eyes are what told be what I had when just the head was out of the slit. Of course, I had to wait until it was openned up more to realize it was gonna be a striped pattern. PLUS, it is more grey than white, but that may not be obvious on all monitors. It is less obvious on mine than in person....but this one IS very light grey. That's why I've got some hopes that it IS a male like I hope!

On my monitor he looks like a very pale pink/plum color- more purple than the snow.

Pale light plum. I'd say that's an accurate description. Of course, I agree that I can't wait to see what s/he looks like dry and in new skin!

Very Sweet KJ! and you can see the difference between the normal striped snow and the ultramel in the pics...is this the first one produced?
What do you expect aging to show as far as any color changes?

Thanks, D80 and the rest!

Might be the first. it's a first for me, and I haven't SEEN another one yet. If the "ultramelanerMOTS" are any indication, the females (I expect based on my CRACKED crystal ball!) are going to look like very colorful (and "hard colors") but distinctly colored ghost stripes. The males, I hope/expect, will be phenomenal. The male ultramelanermot adult that we have here (probably the first of those) is unbelievable in coloration. That;'s the dad to this one, so I expect him to be great. Fingers crossed!

Sooo, it IS a male! Yeah!
Image 1. Lots of siblings' noses sticking out of the rest of the clutch. (looks like one egg did go bad, but who cares? LOL)
Image 2. Comparison of the striped ultramelaner, snow stripe, and snow motley - all siblings
Image 3. Larger view of the male striped ultramelaner.

He's so gorgeous! My two favorite colors. Who'd have ever thought you could get pink and purple snakes. How long till he sheds? About a week? You're so lucky he's a male!

Congrats on a sweet looking snake!

Thanks. To be honest, though, the snakes did more than me.....lol.

Yep...we have to wait 5-7 days now to see the colors in new skin. :( Hmmmm, actually, it might be more like 12-14 days before I see him in his new skin thanks to my upcoming travel plans. :( Dang!

There ARE a few more ultramaners in that clutch. I see the noses. I just don't know if they are motleys are stripes......HA! 2 years after the first one, and already I'm a LITTLE bummed seeing them instead of stripes. OK, not THAT bummed at all....lol.

You lucky bum KJ! I'm so jealous of all those super cool babies you will be hatching, and even though it's pastel colours this new little boy is right up my alley! Have to get you to send me one in the next little while! lol :)

Congrats!
Rebecca

That is one cool snake, I cannot wait until it sheds to see some pics. Congrats man.

Very cool clutch, congrats! By the way, I love the name - ultramelaner - must not have been on the forums when that name popped up.
