The official Black Milksnake thread!!

I got lucky and have a late 06 female, late 06 male, 07 male, and an 09 female. Of course my youngest girl wont be do anything for a looong time. But next year I think I will try my hand at breeding my oldest female! I have never bred anything before so I have a lot to read and learn once I get closer...but I am excited for it!! I just dont want to rush her and risk her health or her life! And I must plan properly of course to go from having 8 snakes to upwards of probably 20 haha!

generally speaking, people are less likely to sell adult females if they are close to, or can already breed.

Coals breeder just emailed me, he had some hatch this weekend and said they're HUGE! Bigger than Hondo hatchlings which are about the size of Corn yearlings... If you want more info, just PM me, as I'll probably cruise down or meet him at a show when they're ready.

Wow, these are some cool colour-changing snakes! I've been looking into getting an MBK, but now I'm seriously thinking about one of these guys. No heat needed? How cool is that?? What size cage/bin is recommended for an adult-sized one?

Yes, they are great to watch progress into a large solid black snake from a little tri-color, or the wait is agonizingly slow, lmao. They get about 5 foot max and have seen them in 20 to 30 longs as they aren't really a stretch out and cruise the tank kind of snake.

Here's my most recent pics...

Envy is surpassing Wrath in blackness, though she is probably half his size.

Well I visited Lee Abbott yesterday and got to see the baby Black Milks, as well as the rest of this years hatchlings! I also got to check out almost all of his collection, and boy has he added some really cool ones since the last time I was there. I picked up a really nice pair to split with Andrew, and they were the largest, calmest ones with the most black tipping, so we have a pretty good head start.
I have Sabbra Cadabra settling into her tank, so will get pics by next weekend...

Ooo I love them all! Especially Inkie and NIB. You could always save those names for future additions ;) hehe

Well, I became the proud owner of a new MBK, myself, on Tuesday (yes, just yesterday :), so I figured I'd add a couple of pix of the new guy or gal, here. NEAT snake! Flighty, but cool :). I'll get it sexed within the next couple of days so I can give it a proper name. Until then, here are a few pix of the "new guy in tow". S/he is an '07, and about 3'-3 1/2' long....

Actually, this is a Black Milk not Black King thread, LMAO! but he's pretty cool. Anyway, now you need a Black Milk so you can see how much cooler and calmer they are in comparison... :grin01:

Well, as stated in my other thread, I acquired my first black milk today! He is a 2010 from Lee Abbott that Joe sent to me. As Joe previously mentioned, Jack was one of the largest of his clutch. Here he is, weighing in at a whopping 23g:

Eager to come out and meet me for the first time.

Just chillin' before being weighed and put away for the week.

Again, a big thanks to you, Joe! I really appreciate it.

Oi! I'm such an idiot! LOL! I blame it on exhaustion--my mom's in the hospital, here, and I'm not getting much sleep.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I forgot if I asked this already, and I'm too lazy right now to dig through this thread.... what age/size do you guys recommend to start breeding the females? I'm not sure if I'll be able to start next year, but I am thinking maybe 2012...so I can get a breeding in before the end of the world :grin01:

The max length they reach is supposed to be 5 ft, so maybe the same as Corns? :shrugs: I bet at 3 foot they're much heavier than 300 grams...

Jet, my new addition

I just got this guy from Markus Lee aka lovin2act. Jet is a four year old, four foot something black milk and my gf and I adore him! This is my first milk and I already want more. He is so gentle and inquisitive. And active! Here are some shots of my gf and him, and Jet enjoying his first meal in New York City.
