Cute little guy but this thread is actually for Black Milk snakes

People confuse Black Kings alot with these guys though so no worries :D

Ok, here's an update! I love the fact that the female is almost solid black already, and Coal seems to keep getting bigger!

Wow...I haven't been here in ages...Its nice to find old threads still relevent sometimes. I forgot how badly i need one of these beauties!!! Gosh...they're beautiful.

Joe they look great!! When are you going to pair them together??? Hey what would you get if you crossed the male with Jane?

The female still has a couple years yet, and I believe there are some Black Milk x Corn hybrids out there, might find them with a Google search...

Lovely! Is Coal the one I saw in the tank by the computer desk? I should post pics of mine sometime, I'm too lazy to do the picture thing. I might breed them next year (07 male, 08 female). My male was sooooooooo slow to change color. And in pictures with flash especially I can still make out a wee bit of red. The female changed to pure black super fast.

Beautiful,,, I have a black milksnake. But he is a bit runty or is taking his sweet time to grow up.Most of his black is gone but still has some bits of color..He is probably wont be but about cornsnake size in the end.Ive seen pics of some that were huge.
He's blue right now so cant get any pics.

Yeah, he likes to come out and watch me surf the net, lol... He's playing garbage disposal tonight and is up to 3 adult mice and still cruising his tank.

I think it depends on the line that determines how fast they change. I heard the Zoo line takes forever...

My male is definitely from the Zoo line. I can't remember what the female is from, I have it written somewhere. Though I think she might be Zoo too.

Mine are both out cruising for food right now, but they are going to wait until tomorrow when I have more time to feed. Plus I need to upgrade the females enclosure, she's about too big for it.

The guy in Texas I got mine from says his are from the San Antonio and Florida zoo lines.I cant imagine he would misadvertise since he is a big breeder.

It doesn't mean anything bad, lol, just that the zoo lines usually take longer to turn solid black is all. The change is the fun part about these snakes ;)

Picked up "Bosco", my first Black Milk this weekend. A squirmy, somewhat chunky litte girl, 8/31 hatch date... hopefully she will chill abit as time goes.

... now if she can just learn to chill like my 4 month old 50/50, "Marty", a very confident and calm little eating machine.

Congrats!!! Don't worry she will grow out of it, they grow up to be amazing!

Thanks.
What kind of feeding schedule should I be following with her as Bosco is young? The breeder had her on live small pinkies, no luck w/f.t.. I was able to get her on f.t. right out of the block- 2 small f.t. Sunday, she poop'ed Wednesday, and I fed her 2 small f.t. today(Thursday). Is every 4 days about right (presuming not in blue) for now? Or a bit too close? Keeping her at room temp (70-74) with no supplemental heat.
Thanks, and she has already grown on me quite a bit.

Yeah she should take right to eating f/t without issue. Mine all did and were f/t rodent destroyers out the gate. Yeah every four days should be fine. My adults I fed once a week and my young ones I fed twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays). It's definitely considered better to give them smaller meals more often when they are babies through their first year and even up to 2 years old I have found from the data I have collected in my time with this snake addiction. And your temps sound just right...doing great there :)
