L-O-L!!!!!...:flames:
Yeah I know, I cannot believe that someone was naive enough to answer "no" either.
L-O-L!!!!!...:flames:
I responded the thread because I have an opinion.
Why this particular situation is so different as to warrant a topic and poll of it's own is beyond me.
My opinion is that should Obama's PR people decide that this would be a good opportunity for him, it would be no different than any other PR opportunity that has been exploited by every other President throughout American History.
You asked a question, sir. Let me answer it. The genius of the constitution is that it can always be changed. The genius of the constitution is that it makes no permanent rule other than its faith in the wisdom of ordinary people to govern themselves. Mr. Picannon: The faith in the wisdom of ordinary people is exactly what makes the Consitution imcomplete and crude. Simon: Crude? No, sir. Our founding parents were pompous middle-aged white farmers, but they were also gret men, ebcause they knew one thing that all great men should know: that they didn't know everything. They knew they were going to make mistakes, but they made sure to leave a way to correct them. They didn't think of themselves as leaders. They wasted a government of citizens, not royalty. A government of listeners, not lecturers. A government that could change, not stand still. The president isn't an elected king, no matter how many bombs he can drop, because the crude Constitution doesn't trust him. He's a servant of the people. He's a bum. Ok, Mr. Picannon? He's just a bum. The only bliss that he's searching for is freedom and justice.
Right, but you do see the irony here, don't you?
He might be able to get more done if BOTH parties would stop sitting on their thumbs and whining about everything.
I actually want to use this quote to say that I HOPE that now that the Reps have taken away the 60 vote majority they DO sit on their thumbs. Have you listened to this guy's rhetoric or looked at historical facts? The administrations that seem to "do the most good" are ones where congress allowed them to do NOTHING AT ALL!!! The best government is one that barely exists.
Hindsight is 20/20 and youth is wasted on the young.
Would you really want this administration to sit on its collective thumb with things the way they are now? And don't forget, we had a huge budget surplus not too many years ago.
The thing about history, or looking back at it once it's become history, is you can see what happened. I'm pretty sure that if that wait and see stuff was the current policy we'd have riots happening right now.
If Obama and his crew do nothing you'll be lucky to survive, literally, to graduate college.
As far as I can tell, nobody said he DID deserve. What people have said is that it isn't a big deal, and that EVERY President would have taken credit. There's a difference between saying every President would and/or should take credit in a time like this and saying "Obama's the man! He created the census jobs!" NOBODY has made that second statement..."The census has been guided by authorizing legislation since 1790."
"The Constitution of the United States of America: Article 1, Section 2 - Requiring a decennial census of population for the purpose of the apportionment of the House of Representatives and federal tax burden."
How can anyone think the CURRENT president deserves credit for jobs that were, in essence, created/mandated over 200 years ago?
None does. There isn't a person alive today that deserves credit for these jobs. But that's not the point. The point, which I'm sure you'll glaze right over and never read before replying, is that ALL Presidents in outr history would take credit if they were currently President.I understand the first and last option, but I REALLY can't see how ANY current administration deserves credit for these jobs. It wasn't their idea or plan. Shrug?
As for the more recent replies, I haven't had a spare moment to read them (working to pay those taxes for those that won't work.....lol), but the votes for the middle options really confused me. I saw that, and I've been wondering if people really think the current guys/gals had anything to do with the census right now. I know people lack an understanding of American history and the constitution, but how could anyone be that uneducated about our own country...assuming those were votes by Americans, of course.
Can you name a politician who would hold their hands up and say 'I have nothing to do with these new jobs, my integrity is such that I cannot possibly take any credit'?
