DAYTONA 2010 OFFICIAL THREAD

from your description last year. That's why I was puzzled about the lack of food choices. I didn't realize it was not just them making the decision. Glad to hear that they are creative enough to figure a way around the problem.

It sounds like the restaurants are a new thing for them - in the past all the food for parties, receptions etc was always done inhouse. I am wondering if maybe we weren't the only people who said something about how bad the food was.....

Great news! If we go with Hooters, will the Hooter girls deliver the food? ;)

I'd be happy with any of those choices. I didn't think the actual food was bad last year, but they just never put more out, we ran out of forks, etc. They really needed at least one staff member to stick around and refill stuff as needed.

This really seems like a win/win that way you get that great room to set up the raffle in and we are right there in the hotel.

Thanks Katie for all your hard work! I might bring a purse like Nanci. ;) Or maybe a "hydration" back pack. LOL>

LOL, Kathy. I can see Nanci wearing one of those with a wine bottle on each side. :) I'll put spiked coke in mine. :p

We have to make sure Kathy has company for dinner, too. Last year everyone was so intimidated by her famousness no one would go over there!!

I had to beg people to fill our table!

Good thing I brought a couple of people myself (hubby and friend). Thought maybe I had cooties, haha!

Actually, I am kind of intimidated by Kathy. I have admired her work since..well about forever!
I am not that much younger than she is, and when I was growing up, no one kept reptiles (of any kind), and a woman doing it was completely unheard of!!!

I remember there was an online quiz years ago (before I joined this site), and one of the questions were "If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be?". Well, I guess you know my answer to that!

Wait till you meet Carol! We were ALL intimidated by the thought of meeting her for the first time! She is very loveable, though. Not scary at all!!

At one of the cornsnake dinners a few years ago, maybe the first year I went, I sat across from Rich Hume. I was pretty intimidated! (And Rich is the nicest guy!!) At least in Florida we are privileged to see Kathy quite often, so we get desensitized to her famousness.

Even though I actually have 4 of Carol's snakes, IN MY HOUSE (!), she does scare the crap outta me.....

And I have admired Rich Hume since I ever knew there was such a thing as a striped bloodred (which was long before I hatched out my Steve)...

The hotel manager has been on top of my concerns today and sent me some additional information. She fully understands and respects our concerns after how dinner by them turned out last year.
Apparently they have recently started working with Hooters, Ruby Tuesday and Uno's Restaurant with their weekday evening reception as sponsors. Since she knows that all three of them do follow the standard health codes she has graciously agreed to allow us to use one of these restaurants to cater our dinner!! She is going to send me her contact info for each restaurant so that we can get in touch with them for menu options and prices and see if this will work for us.

I am going to see if I can get them to email me menus and prices for an event like this so I can post it for everyone to discuss....

Robbie - I may still need you to stop in and talk to them directly for the information.

Katie, all of those locations are very close to my school, so I'll be able to pop over and chat with them any time you like. If you want, put together a list of questions you want answered and I'll get those as soon as I possibly can. :)

I might have a Hooters girl outfit... Might make the raffle calling a bit more fun. ;)

OOOH! I can has to wet my whistle during the chair dancing and raffle call? I'll take it with Lori's famous "screwdrivers". :roflmao:

DYK Beth, just think of all the famous people you'll get to meet! Don, Rob & Louise (or have you met them?) hopefully Rich Z, Jeff Mohr, KJ, Dr. Chewy!!! Connie and Chuck- have you met them?

YES!

Robbie in a Hooter's outfit, maybe with a beer helmet! THAT would put everyone in a mood to buy lots of raffle tickets, lol!
