PLEASE do not base your view of Christianity on Lavender's warped ideas... As a Christian, I can say that I would NEVER get enjoyment out of feeding a live bird to one of my snakes. And I would most certainly not use that as a way to teach children about the "dominion of animals"....

I wasn't going to get involved in this thread, but I'm getting tired of Lavender giving Christians a bad name.
 
My patience is wearing thin. I am getting quite tired of the divisiveness. Whether intentional or not, it seems to be harmful to our community. I think the malevolent pot-stirring needs to stop now.

I agree on both counts. I'll give Mr. Lavender a timeout for a year to see if he can come to grips with developing a better manner to his methods of posting on a public message board. My opinion is that he has developed a chip on his shoulder towards this site and he is purposely trying to incite devisiveness, arguments, and contention with his trolling.

So, enough is enough, fella....

Well I loved this thread till it went all crazy but now that Lav got Fella'ed I think its safe to say we can bring it back on topic and ill start. I was told on another forum it was a speckled but after looking at pics baby black and speckled kings look a lot a like. Is there any way to know for sure other than time or breeding?
 
i dont know if you missed it, but kathy love thinks this is a getula king. i would trust her on this one. And like she said, many species of kings can be interbred, so even breeding trials might not give you an answer as to which one it actually is.

I for one, do not base my opinion of Christianity on people like Lavender. There are extremists in prettymuch every relion.
It was obvious from the beginning, that he was intent on stirring the pot, but he stayed just under the radar, avoiding getting banned...until now.

I'm sure it won't be long before another one comes along. There's one in every crowd. LOL

It most certainly is a Getula... but it's a rather large family of snakes.
I still am sticking to Lampropeltis Getula Goini but other options can be as valid.

I am quite positive that a scale count could be attempted in order to possibly recognize the exact species though...

Regarding Lavender's removal... it should have been done ages ago. He was treated with a silken glove- something which I can't say others, a deal less foul-intent(not even NEARLY), were not fortunate enough to receive.
 
Why yes, when a member attacks a moderator, they generally get banned much more quickly than if they can refrain from doing so.

Though in this case too, Lavender was very outspoken regarding his views on Rich and the way this site is run when his commercializing effects didn't go the way he wanted... and yet here we are, God knows how many posts later.

It is within my right to point out that IMHO, certain very severe backlashes were aimed at people who were far less malicious in their goals than Lavender here, and that he receive a measure of lenience that would have been better aimed towards others.

I have no such interest, though I am acting as mod for a good 4-5 years now at a local forum.
I was personally accused of extortion back at the time by yourself, over an incident which I was not allowed to reasonably explain and was not given a shred of "benefit of doubt"(heck, it wasn't that dissimilar and I was even a bit more within my right as a contributing member). I was even persecuted in a farewell thread I opened, that mentioned -nothing- of the reason why I was leaving. He on the other hand openly spoke against the way the site is run and was treated with a silken hand comparatively.

Yes, it is a bit mind boggling for me to see that someone who has gone out of his way to cause strife and turn people against one another was treated, as far as I can tell, a deal more kindly.

Yes this is your site, and yes, no one is perfect. I am not challenging you nor do I immediately assume that I can do things differently.

I do say, as a person who visits these forums, that I experienced a severe backlash from you, and that a person who maliciously tried to make these forums less than pleasant to a whole lot of people got a kinder treatment.

You can always answer "then go somewhere else"- but that's not dealing with anything.
I don't think that a person who caused that much strife and touched on subjects and remarks that were not within the reasonable lines by many here, should have been permitted to do so for so long.

Telling me to find somewhere else or daring me to do better doesn't really change my opinion.
I am not saying that it is horrible of you or not understandable- human beings are imperfect by definition. Nor am I necessarily right either.

I assume you want this place to be fun for the people who surf in it... I am not saying it's the main goal, but as I imagine you do want at least some people here, than one of the prerequisites is that this place will be enjoyable.

You are perfectly within your right to ignore what I wrote. I don't think you're doing a bad job here, far from it, but I did feel the need to voice my opinion on this specific matter.
 
Well as for the kingsnake. If your little guys turns almost solid black with a little bit of white here and there then you can bet he or she is a Eastern Black Kingsnake. But if it turns out with yellow speckling throughout then it's probably a Speckled Kingsnake.

From your location, if the location on your profile is correct then you are more in Black Kingsnake range. That is my opinion.
