RIP Jonesy, my 24 year old grumpy old man

bitsy

Owned by Corns since 1991
Sad to report that I came home this evening to find Jonesy, my 24 and a half year old Corn, had passed away.

I'd been struggling to keep him going over the past six months. He'd lost condition and had a couple of regurges, turning into a really picky eater in between times. I tempted him back into regular eating with small mice and fuzzies and I knew that he was probably reaching the end, but it still hurts to lose him.

I found him curled up under his favourite warm side hide as though asleep, showing no sign that he'd passed in any kind of distress. It was a kind end for a companion who'd been with me through some very dark times. Sometimes just the normality of the feeding/cleaning routines, and the obligation to keep on because I had these lives to care for, kept me going when I might have given up.

RIP Jonesy, you grumpy old geezer. I'm not sure you ever did more than tolerate me, but we got used to each other and I'll miss you peering out of your hide whenever I walk by.

I am so sorry....this makes me so sad. Goodnight old man, you will be missed.......

My condolences, I'm really very sad to hear this. But, I truly admire anyone who can keep and maintain a corn snake for over 24 years. Jonesy was a testament of your wonderful care...you can be very proud of yourself. I think Jonesy was the longest lived corn that I've heard of. I wish all corns could live so long. RIP Jonesy.

My thoughts exactly. Sending my condolences to you xx

I am so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine losing. Companion after a quarter of a decade.

Bitsy, you and Jonesy are an inspiration to all the rest of us corn owners. It must bring you some comfort that we will all remember him as a legend and have the goal to provide such a life for our corns as you have to him. RIP Jonesy...
