'05 Lav-Albino California Kingsnake: Kal

I haven't posted a photo thread of this guy in quite a while. He used to be a real jerk-- he bit, he musked, he thrashed. I don't know what happened, but his first brumation this winter mellowed him. I'm happy with that. I really like looking at him, but I couldn't do much of that before. :)

Maybe he thinks if he doesn't turn over a new leaf, you're going to chill him down and not feed him for months again! He's making a good impression this time around!

But they say brumation resets turtles and tortoises- formerly finicky eaters will try new things, etc. Maybe it's something like that.

He sure is a pretty guy!

Thanks Jenni, Nanci, and Beth. :)

Very purdy. Are you planning on producing any? My wife, Star, really likes him.....
Thanks Chris. I'm glad your wife likes him too. No, I don't have a female for him. He's my only Cali. I have a lav-albino Florida king (and no male), but I'm not going to be an evil mutt-getula producer. :grin01: Heck, I don't even know if the lav-albino is compatible between the two. I'm not really up on my king genetics.

That is evil:grin01:. I don't know anything about king genetics either. Let us know how it turns out....

He's gorgeous! Capturing all the lovely colors in these is simply not easy. I tend to get the ground color and miss the yellow.

And I wouldn't flame you if you paired him with Daisy. If the two lav albinos aren't initially compatible, the F2 would definitely be interesting! And it wouldn't surprise me if they ARE compatible as I'm still not sure what kind of king Alexander is, and being a Cali X Florida cross is one of the possibilities.

Daisy is one of those kings with a twitchy, frenetic, scary feeding response. And she's waaay bigger than li'l Kal. She is also a super-enthusiastic eater of snakes (culls) and slugs. I think she'd eat a shoe if you rolled it around in dirty mouse bedding first or wrapped it in a corn's skin. But if I can acheive some sort of size parity between them someday, I'd consider it. ;)

He is definately a looker Dean!! Since he seems to have mellowed a bit, I hope this means you will grace us with more photos of him in the future?!?

He's a beautiful king!
Too bad he is so far away ... I know a huge, gorgeous, Albino gal that might like to meet him.;)
