"You lie!" - Disrespect or expression of an opinion?

I( which he was completely wrong

YOU LIE!

The health care would require treatment without checking of an ID. Do you really think that means you wouldn't be paying (assuming you still have a job then) for illegals to get treatment? Think they'll STOP going to the ER all of a sudden? Or is some fairy going to print up non-inflating money to pay for it?

Why would it require no checking of IDs? That sounds rather silly. When I go into a Kaiser facility, they want to see my health insurance card. Why wouldn't they issue a card to people?

...didn't just boo, he actively accused the president of lying ( which he was completely wrong about anyway ). It was a premeditated publicity stunt (IMO) that backfired.
Just a thought here. Didn't the president, at the beginning of the video, actively accuse "prominent politicians" of a "lie plain and simple". Maybe if this guy felt he was one of those being referred to he was just simply returning the favor. :shrugs:

By the reaction of the House members, it seems to me that Joe Wilson R-(SC) was disrespectful to the president. Now there are rumors he is being pressured to resign his position. :devil01:

I have really sat and thought about this topic a great deal before posting. I am ok with the fact that he considers the President a liar, he is. Hell, most (if not all) politicians are. However, this was disrepctful to more than the office of the President, it was disrespectful to our country. If it were a "town hall" meeting or some other forum, then I am ok with it, but no the State of the Union. Same goes for when the Dems booed Bush, it was disrespectful to the country, not just Bush! Both are considered unacceptable in my opinion, They are elected officials and they are SUPPOSED to represent us and I did not appreciate what any of them did.

I guess what happened to Joe's political opponent could be called just-desserts:

I think he ended his own career by being rude. I don't think he will get the boot (or boot himself out), but only not get re-elected for a seat. (Hurray!)

It was a premeditated publicity stunt (IMO) that backfired.

FT, I know we have our issues, I am not directing this at you personally, I am addressing the sentiments by you and jpcusa. Remember, he is from SC and that IS a republican state. I am betting that no matter what his opponent may have raised as a result of his outburst, he will still maintain the seat. IF there is any fall out, I think it would be pressure from the Republican party IF it is determined the American public as a whole is not accepting of what he did.

Maybe I am wrong, guess time will tell?

The health care would require treatment without checking of an ID.

That is not a written provision in the Bill ( but if you could link me to where it says that in the Bill it would be appreciated, otherwise that's called speculating and speculating is not an acceptable reason to call anyone a LIAR, good luck you'll need it).
Every law etc... has loopholes that can be taken advantage of.

YOU'RE DRAMATIC!

You really hit the nail on the head with this one!

However, this was disrepctful to more than the office of the President, it was disrespectful to our country.

agreed (also agree with most of your other points in your post as well, just didn't want a wall of quote)

Wasn't NEARLY as bad as the boos and the catcalls from the Democrats during one of Bush's addresses. Reporters even said things like how this behavior had "never been seen before." I guess that was different, though. The Democrats did it then, so it was OK and warranted!

Of course!! Didn't you know it was all a big conspiracy designed to personally piss you off?

Politicians are rude to each other all the time. I don't see troops of people storming his office with picket signs demanding that he immediately step down from his seat, do you? Heck it's just a little blurb in the news, hardly even worthy of mention on NPR.

Don't get it all twisted up. It's not always about us and them. It doesn't have to be that way in every single political discussion...does it?

This guy was rude. Ain't the first politician to do it, dang sure ain't gonna be the last, and frankly...it doesn't matter which party he blongs to, or even if his words were justifiable. It's still rude. Don't turn it into some giant conspiracy where bleeding heart liberals are destroying your life and everything you believe in...again...

YOU LIE!

Dude...they check your ID to cash a check, they check your ID to buy smokes, and frankly...ID does not require citizenship. So my issue with this post is several fold.

First...no hospital in this country is ever going to implement a policy where people will be treated without verifying their identity. It's ridiculous to even consider, and no bill will be written as such. It would make it WAY to easy for drug abusers and criminals to take advantage of the hospitals. They NEED to check ID to verify a patient's history, medications, prescriptions, and blablabla. Otherwise they would end up with junkies going from hospital to hospital getting fake 'scripts for morphine and valium. That's just ridiculous to even contemplate as a possiblity.

Secondly...you don't need to be a citizen to get an ID issued by the state. You don't need to be a citizen to recieve state-run medical assistance benefits. You don't need to be a citizen to recieve welfare, foodstamps, or any other manner of public assistance either. In order to STOP going to the ER, it would assume they are currently going. And they are. And we're all already paying for it. SO what's your point?

You're WAY to dramatic in these conversations. Take a pill and relax. I promise...we are not out to get you...but they might be...;)

that senator has the right to say what he wants, plain and simple. I totally agree with the senator. He was man enough to stand up to obama and palosi. whatever state he's from, PLEASE VOTE HIM BACK IN!!! We need more people like that. not afraid to speak there mind and fight for what is right.

Who decides what's right?

And if the guy that called BO a liar is wrong...where does that leave us? I guess someone should stand up, be a man, and fight for what's right and remove that dude from his seat, right? Afterall...it is a place of honor and a man which falsely accuses another with baseless and unfounded accusations has no honor...right?

:sidestep::rolleyes:

Again with the 'canned' rhetoric.

I don't know WHY they wrote it in, but it is generally believed by people against it that they are doing it to "buy" votes. Mexicans that make it to the US (legally or not) that manage to get in the voting booth (legally or not....lol) tend to vote for democrats. That trend is really not debated. The anti-liberals tend to think the liberals want to give the Mexicans more and more to KEEP their votes. In other words, they are buying votes with tax dollars - whether that is true or not is debatable, but I personally am one that believes it completely.

I haven't seen the liberals say WHY they claim to want to do this much (maybe they have - I haven't seen it). Instead, they just tend to ignore the problem or say, "we aren't doing that" while proposing more and more laws that do exactly what they say they aren't doing.

So, WHY? I don't know for sure. Believe what you want. If you check IDs, illegal immigrants couldn't go because they can't get an ID. If you don't check IDs, then illegals could go. Speaking of which, TODAY illegals are already getting treated at taxpayer expense when they can't afford it themselves. It is already happening. I feel sorry for the hurt individual, but I also don't think it is right that I'm paying for a citizen of another country to get treated. (For those that don't know, they go to the ER for bad sniffles - not just real emergencies - because they have to get treated there. This isn't true at a regular doctor's office.)

YOU'RE DRAMATIC!

Are you unable to actually read original documents and learn something for yourself. Instead, you'd rather spew out nonsense based on ignorance and believe it is the truth because, well, as long as you don't do the research to LEARN more what you want to be true can still be justified in your own mind. (Since you seem unable to find anything on your own, links have been provided previously - read the document and THEN tell us what isn't in there. I can't tell you what is not in there because I haven't read every word, but what I did read is certainly in there.)

Maybe it isn't a LIE when a statement is based on intentional continued ignorance, but that makes it worse than a lie in my opinion. I am not talking about my country's rude friend from SC, either.

First...no hospital in this country is ever going to implement a policy where people will be treated without verifying their identity. I

Haahaahaahaahaahaahaahaahaahaahaa... ...and no bank will EVER give a house loan to people with low paying jobs and poor income because they are told to, either. No hospital will treat poor people without insurance knowing they won't receive payment from them because they are told they have to, either. Do you really ignore that those things happen/happened? I live in the US - where do you live? Next you'll tell me the Democrats are doing everything possible to stop illegals from getting into the voting booths, too.

I notice you live in kalifornia. After seeing how broke your state is from trying socialism, you should fear it more on the country level than on your state level. All those formerly productive people leaving the state now that it isn't successful like it was - where will they go when all the states are the same? Plus, if we are all broke, who will bail out the entire country? There won't be a rich federal government to bail us out if ALL of us are broke. At some point, that run-away printing press will HAVE to stop sending out money...because the paper will be more valuable than the currency printed on it!

When I hear statements from some liberal-communists on the news, on-line, and in person, all I can ever think is, "Are they so stupid that they actually believe those those facts and really do forget about what happened as little as a couple of years ago or are they just so stupid that they believe WE are stupid enough to believe them?" I really don't know the answer to that, but I'd like to know if my intelligence is being insulted or not.

In reference to the rude comment, I agree it was improper (even if true). I agree it shouldn't have been done. (As I also stated before, I'd vote for that guy TODAY given the chance even though he should NOT have done it.) It was wrong this time, and it was wrong every time it was done before. HOWEVER, the main-stream media gives a lot more coverage to Obama's sales pitches than to the Republicans trying to thwart this current piece of legislation. Maybe...just maybe... he felt this was the only way he could get SOME opposing sentiment out on mainstream media into the same type of audience's home. Just saying..... Plus, it's the first time in, what?, seven speeches by Obama that anything new has been said at all....lol.

California died a long time ago to be replaced by kalifornia (no caps). The Red Plague took it over. It was a quiet death, so nobody can really point to the exact date on which she passed away. The death was too lingering and chronic - like Tuberculosis. Sadly, it seems to be infectious, and carriers have spread the disease to many other parts of the union. It is also seems to be antibiotic resistant, so no matter how much you treat it with the drugs TRUTH and LOGIC or even just RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS, it keeps re-occurring like the cancerous growth that it is.

Are you unable to actually read original documents and learn something for yourself. So, In a nutshell, there is no basis for your speculations other than conjecture based on what you did or did not read.

You also expect me to do your research in order to prove out and document your "nonsense based on ignorance" and speculation. In a word, NO.

When I post my ideas or opinions, whenever possible I cite and or link to more information. I certainly am not going to do your homework for you especially when " what you want to be true can still be justified in your own mind".

You go on to say that "what I did read is certainly in there" well could that statement be any more vague and self-evident at the same time ?

Again with the insults,It appears that every other thread you're involved in eventually resorts to this when people counter your views. I am known to respond in kind but your posts do enough damage.

The insults really adds nothing anyways and I'm sure I'm not the only one that can see your face slowly turning red and smoky steam coming out of your ears as you frantically jab at the keyboard with a righteous vengeance, smacking down those ignorant 'liberals' left and right...A Republican Superman Evenger, if you will...lol
( there how does that fit into your wanton drama!)

So where in the bill does it say that illegal aliens won't be covered?

There is that whole goose and gander thing again. Too bad it does not work both ways. We can be called racists and liars all day because we do not support a black president (despite the fact that we have never supported someone with his political beliefs in our lives) but we call anyone else a liar or racist and there is upheaval.

Every law etc... has loopholes that can be taken advantage of.

And the majority of the dims continue to leave those loopholes as large as possible.

Jazzgeek posted this on page one of this thread:

It doesn't say that Propagating Pandas won't be covered, but does that mean that they will?

All around, Definitely...although I'm not sure I buy it as a conspiracy.

Found some more:
Claim: Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.

False. That’s simply not what the bill says at all. This page includes "SEC. 152. PROHIBITING DISCRIMINATION IN HEALTH CARE," which says that "[e]xcept as otherwise explicitly permitted by this Act and by subsequent regulations consistent with this Act, all health care and related services (including insurance coverage and public health activities) covered by this Act shall be provided without regard to personal characteristics extraneous to the provision of high quality health care or related services." However, the bill does explicitly say that illegal immigrants can’t get any government money to pay for health care. Page 143 states: "Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States." And as we’ve said before, current law prohibits illegal immigrants from participating in government health care programs.

KJUN--

You REALLY need to step away from the conspiracy websites.

I promise you, 100% absolutely without a DOUBT that there will NOT be a bill or legislation passed in YOUR lifetime that will REQUIRE hospitals to treat patients WITHOUT VERIFYING THEIR IDENTITY.

You are so ridiculously far off base in ever post you make that I can't even wallow through your conspiracies and rhetoric anymore to contradict you. You don't live in the United States...you live in smoe fantasy made-up world. Do you wear tinfoil on your head so they can't read your thoguhts, too?

I can't even debate with someone whose ideology is so far gone. You have resorted to unbased claims, illogical assumptions, and just plain ignorance as a basis for your arguments.

You must REALLY hate democrats, dude. And I find it flippin' hillarious.

Where is this Kalifornia?
I lived in California for a long time. Beautiful state, nice people. It's spelled with a C.

kalifornia is in KJUN's nightmares. It's a place that doesn't exist in reality, along with everything else he has posted in this topic, and most of the obama youth topic. He likes to make stuff up so he can feel superior to everyone else when we don't know what he's talking about.
