Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

A blow I'm not sure I can recover from

Thank you!
Sadly they mixed something up so the samples were shipped late today... so only tomorrow evening(your noon'ish) will the results come in.
*Sigh*

Oren, I just caught up on this thread.... Haven't been on here much. Just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, my friend. I'm so sorry (which is very inadequate, I know) and hope for all the best for you.

Alright, update.
The Paradox T+ is scott free... the Blood however, is infected(a huge, huge hit).

I spoke with the Doctor handling the exams and she told me that even though she's aware of the documents stating it's not curable, she does believe adult Boas can, with an immune boost, eventually shrug the parasite off completely- and she said something to the effect of "and then maybe we'll write our own article".

I spoke to her about it, and since I wish to start a second degree(B.Sc this time) in Biology and Biotech, it would be quite good for my resume'- she said she'd like that... so we will look into publishing the results on treating the animals I have(I limited myself to three infected animals).

We have three different cases:
1- a young Leopard Boa with a minor infection.
2- a sub-adult Blood Boa with a more progressive infection.
3- a gravid female with an infection.

I think that allot of information can be gathered from these cases and if they will be well documented, they may serve other studies in the future.

I am sorry to hear this. I know it has to be tough not knowing why she died. She was very beautiful. Please keep us updated

Although it is terrible news, I do love the idea of something good coming out of bad situations. And I always hate waste. So making use of this situation in both furthering your career / education, and helping further veterinary knowledge, is definitely making the best of a bad situation. At best, you may find that you can save some of these animals. At worst, future vets and keepers will have more info, and maybe a cure will eventually arise from your groundwork.

That is what's leading me at this point.
However, the financial loss is significant and it seems I will not be able to continue the projects I was so excited about.
It's hard not to feel a sense of unfairness.

"It's hard not to feel a sense of unfairness."

I TOTALLY agree! And I hope karma will repay its "debt" to you in some way in the future!

Perhaps you will have a successful outcome on these animals and that would be awesome Karma indeed! Knowing that there is a treatment and that future animals might be saved.

That would be nice.
I would really love it if I could manage to completely heal just one of three sick snakes I have here... one can dream I guess.

I will probably rebuild my collection... VERY slowly and cautiously... I have no intention of risking such large sums of money again though... I guess that in a way, keeping it at a hobby level is the most "pure" and well-intended way to keep snakes.
