Are we killing the future market?

again I would have no problem letting stuff go in other areas in SC but far away from Jasper county. I have posted my love for Jasper county and what people call okeetee. try to back your words with real facts. You make me laugh, very entertaining how you make up stories in your head.
So, pray tell, GAWD of all things Corn. What makes it alright for YOU to dump animals in other people's back yards, but not okay for THEM to dump them in Jasper County?! Huh? What's the difference? You're gonna pollute the Miami stock, the Upper Keys stock, the Tallahassee stock, et al. But oh whoa is you that someone else would pollute the Okeetee stock??!! Really?!? Give me a break.

Here's just a sampling of some inflammatory posting from three recent posts in a row. This must be the fourth, maybe fifth time I've asked for this crap to stop. I think I've asked pretty nicely. Since that hasn't worked, I guess I'll go to Plan B. If I receive another "report post" from anyone concerning this thread, I'm just going to go on a ban-crazy rampage. If the person making the report has been a participant in this kind of inflammatory crap, then they should prepare to be suspended as well.

The only diffrance between you and me is I talk the truth you talk from the dream world.

you consepts are such a foolish way of thinking.

Some people are such a joke, that everyone gets the punchline...but them....

So, pray tell, GAWD of all things Corn.

I'll take it in the name of "fighting the good fight". :shrugs: For the record, I can't recall having reported a single post be it ""inflammatory"" or otherwise (other than spam). I can handle things like a big boy and pretty much feel I have done so. ;)

You're the man Deano, do what ya gotta do! :)

For the record, that part of my post didn't apply to you.

I'm pretty sure that was the case, but you did quote one of my lines. I should have added "self-proclaimed based on behavior". Sorry, my bad. ;)

And you are doing a bang-up job. :smash: No worries wherever the chips may fall.

for the record you did quote him dean, If I was Drizz80 I would have thought the same thing. look at the last quote you made, it is drizz80's

I'm sorry if you both read more into my words than was there, but re-read my words:

If I receive another "report post" from anyone concerning this thread, I'm just going to go on a ban-crazy rampage. If the person making the report has been a participant in this kind of inflammatory crap, then they should prepare to be suspended as well.

Where did I indicate that the "report post" had to come from someone whom I quoted? I did write "anyone". I intentionally left the usernames out of the passages I quoted. If new member Snakeboy5678 (whom I did not quote) reports a valid example of inflammatory posting in a future post in this thread, I'm going to ban/suspend the offending member. If Snakeboy5678 is a PARTICIPANT in the inflammatory posting, then he's gone too.

Why haven't I locked this yet? I need to get my head examined. :realhot:

Because you are showing incredible restraint, and because there are some valid points being made in between the bickering?
I hope the thread is not locked because it is interesting to read different breeders take on the corn market. Believe it or not this thread is helping me to decide what to pair up and how to set the price.

Good post. Roy & ghosthousecorns made .!!!

Gah, I say close the blasted thing already, then frame it and make it public!
Entertainment like this should be available to the unwashed masses, I say!

I can't stop reading. If this thread closes, I won't know what to do with myself.

One thing I'll say about Okeetee, if anyone has ever been there, they've seen somethin'. There are a LOT of cornsnakes down there. And kings, corals, hawks, owls, and every critter that ever ate a corn in the wild. I honestly believe you'd have to turn loose thousands before enough survived to grow up, breed, and hatch to make a difference. That said, I wouldn't do it (outside of locality corns) there. I've turned dozens of my extra/non-feeding/etc. Okeetees loose in western NC, but they are pretty darn bland/integrated here. No one is going to come here to collect this areas corns. Hypocritical, I don't think so. Obviously, I'd say that, though!

Hey Wade..

For myself Wade, what I see I need to do is to be a lot more conservative in my breedings.. This coming year, I had planned for 16 breedings, of course my semi dismal 08 year definantly makes me realize, that everyone and their Brother is producing far more than the market here can possibly deal with, hench me and Jenn's decision to dump a lot of possible breedings.. Its painfully obvious for people outside the the US to see they might be able to capitlize on our over runs for a discounted price.. We have a commodity, and the commodity is now so common, in some cases we can't give it away, which is the same thing going through the BP market..

Who can I blame? I can blame myself for producing animals in a short sighted manner.. Where does the problem lay? In the producers, by really mass producing .. What might be the best thing to do? In reality, produce less of everything that can be reasonably tolerated in the market place.. Seems to me a lot of people get this idea, when we look at the one thread ( I don't remember what it was called or where it is here ) where a lot of people have decided they need not to produce very many clutches this coming season.. To me, thats the lessons that should be learned.. I am not suprised that the slow down in the worlds economy has affected us, but I don't think that holds as much water as most think..

I appreciate you asking for some clairification Wade instead of blasting me for being inept in the abilities to articulate my words well.. Considering the tounge lashings I have had in the past for not being to clear, I try my best with what little education I have.. I certainly can't compete with the Dale's of the board, when I have a Gr 9 education at best..*lol*

Regards.. Tim of T and J

I hope this thread does not close eithier.. I am not taking anything personal, but think its best that we get our heads out of the sand and work amongst ourselfs to protect our market place..

Regards again... Tim of T and J

I just gave you points for a good post this just toped the last post you made:bowdown::bowdown:

Heck, last year I had about 100 females that I didn't even throw males in with. Will be at least that many again this year. I was actually prioritizing the breeding, matching up the ones I really wanted to get results from, and setting aside the others, to either breed them if I had time, or else just skip them if I had enough going on as it is. Trust me, it won't kill them to not breed them. Well the MALES won't like it much.......

Heck, I could have EASILY produced a LOT more animals last year. But it really didn't have anything to do with forecasting sales. I just didn't want to kill myself with another flood of babies. And I will certainly be thinking that way again this year. Matter of fact, if anything, I will bulk out a lot more animals than I did last year. Something tells me that if I really do lose my sanity, it will be real tough getting it back again.

Damm Rich how many corns did you produce last year. It has to be in the thousands. 100 females that you chose not to breed thats way too many snakes for one person to have.

TIM,
Thank you for your opinion. I agree with you on many points. This is really hard for me. I love to breed corns. I love to incubate the eggs and watch them pip. My wife gets more excited over them than me, which is really unusual for a female human. I want to breed all my females and produce thousands of babies. But I won’t.

I would never blast you or anyone else for their education? I am amazed at the wisdom of people who haven’t gone through the system.

I feel that the coming year is going to go to unusual morphs and collector genes The pet store type snakes are going to be hard to sell. I think a lot of the run of the mill snakes I have will not be bred this year. There is nothing in this business that bothers me more than snakes that I can’t sell. I won’t cull them just because I can’t sell them, and I don’t what to keep them. I would rather not breed them.
