Buckeye the new puppy!

ForkedTung

Serpent Mound Monk
As some of you know my son River and I lost our best friend Charr dog,of 14 years over a month ago. Well we took our time and still greatly miss and love him, but it didn't feel right not to have a dog in the house so.... may I introduce the newest member of our family.........Here's Buckeye ( their name) I actually kinda like the name, may keep it of course he will be BUCK! if we do, but he is the color of a male deer.
Any name suggestions?
He is a definite Shepard, mom was a mix( sadly she was very sick and along with two of the litter all three had to be euthanised...they almost did the whole litter until the great ladies at save a mom, pregnant dog rescue saved them), but mostly shep, dad is questionable, but everyone agrees that these pups almost looks like full blood chows.
He is a chunky monkey!
They only had two black ones left to adopt and the other two were spoken ( Buckeye) for so when River and I got there I thought he was taken.
LUCK! the lady had called that day and thought that he would get too big for her apt. so she passed on him. I took this as a sign and the fact that he was the calmest, most laid back of the bunch ( reminded me of another dog, hmmm..),Anyway there were 4 there, I wanted the black male as well, but Oh well.
He has already settled in well and Shadow took right to him, rubbed up on him and everything, of course he wants to "play" with Shadow, but he'll learn.
He's fixed and up to date on shots, and smart and at two months ( 9 weeks) already prefers potty to go outside, 1 accident so far....enjoy the pics.
We really think Charr would've approved!
Kyle and River

That is a very cute puppy. Sorry to hear that about Charr dog, but congratulations on the new little puppy. Their always a change of pace from the older, wiser dogs, but it should keep you very entertained over the next 5 years. As for names, have you thought about naming him after Ohio State players - maybe someone who you idolize. "Beanie" is a cool name, after Beanie Wells, but you might not be a fan. Either way, good luck with him, and have fun thinking up a name. He's an awesome dog!!.

That's a really nice looking puppy. I love the legs crossed photo. As for a name I think Kodiak might be a good one. Just like the Kodiak brown bears from Alaska. Congrats on the new family member!!!

Chubby but CUTE!
Me or the puppy? lol

Oh man, You had to do that! We we're pretty set on buckeye and thought about Bear, but my dad already has a Bear dog and we tried many other animal-color names...but that really would be a Great name! We're thinking about it thanks!
ceduke Welcome to the family Buck! He's lucky to have found such a great home.
Thanks much!
What a fat little one!! He's adorable. Congrats. River looks so happy.
Wait til you see him Hallie, he is a chunk! been on two wormers already so it's just him...takes big ole poopers and eats like a horse!

Thanks for the kind words Ricky! as for names we're not big sports fans... see above

I'll have to swing by on my way to Daytona to see him. I have to stop at Danny's first, so you're right on my way south! (BTW, I like the name Kodiak...)

I think there might be some Rottie in there. That face and the solidness of his body remind me of Rotties. I think Buck or Buckeye is a great name, since your business name is Buckeye, as well. Kodiak would also be a good name or Denali.

He's so cute!!! His color makes me think shepherd, something in his face looks like a pitbull, and his body sort of says shar pei. Too bad the dog DNA kits are a rip off...

What a chubby little guy. Sounds like he will have a good home. By the way I like the name.
