COerriccaRN is over and out!

Okay, just got done reading that other thread...and all I can say is I find your attitude toward animal life to be disgusting, cruel, and sadistic. I know you said being called disgusting, cruel, and sadistic upsets you. But since you seem to have so little regard for the feelings of your fellow creatures, then why should I have any regard for yours?

Hunting is fine. Thinking that human beings are the only creatures on this great Earth that deserve kindness and consideration is not. Good riddance.

Okay, now MOAR PANDAS!

Statements like this ran rampant in the other thread and have started here as well. THIS WILL CEASE! I don't blame the OP for being upset. Can you imagine the uproar that would result if someone used those exact words to describe their feelings about a homosexual's lifestyle? Animals live. Animals die. Some go "humanely", and I use that word loosely as humans are by far the cruelest creatures on this planet, and others suffer. Talk to certain religous people and they will completely agree that since animals do not have a soul, you can do whatever you want to them, that God gave Man complete dominion over all animals and animals have absolutely no rights. Is that thinking wrong? Depends upon your own personal belief, but name calling like that just because your belief is different is just plain shameful. And there are quite a few members on this forum that used those words or agreed with them so I'm not purposely singling out Hail_Britannia, that was just the first post in this thread to quote.

if u do leave then am sorry to see u go (u gave me my first rep point (Y) haha) .
also id like to say to anyone who reads this that everyones different in opinions and how they do life and shouldn be dismissed as cruel or evil without acc knowing the person behind the screen name :p ..so anyway good luck with life and sorry ppl have upset u enough to want to leave ..cya

...I am a very opinionated person, about certain things. Very passionate.
And I know a few of my ideas would put others off. Are they corn snake related?...No.
Am I compromising myself by leaving things unsaid (and my feelings unhurt)...LOL...?...No....
Wait aren't YOU the guy that called me a smart @$$ in an earlier thread??? Good Lord, I don't know where I must fall in the area of things left unsaid then. ;)
I've found that people are far more, shall we say brave on the internet with regard to voicing their opinions. Let's not forget that whatever one writes today will be forever accessible to the future masses. And therefore ample fuel is being laid for the bonfires of tomorrow... Be kind, be thoughtful show some restraint when you get ready to light the tinder pile because next week it might surrounding the stake you find yourself tied to.

Now Terri. That was said in the most affectionate manner to compliment you on having the absolutely most attractive snake on that thread!
I thought for sure I was saying it "campy" enough for it to be taken in no other way than an extreme compliment.

If you were offended or I was being overly familiar....I get down on my knees and beg your apology. Literally. Seriously.

I would rather die than someone think that I would be so crassly, crudely, artlessly, and primitively insulting.

That means my roast is gonna be HUGE when it happens. :roflmao: Maybe I should only post nice things for a while? :D

Hey, if we time it right, I can watch yours burn and you can watch mine burn, and we won't even have to leave our respective homes to do so. We can have a cross-country bonfire!!

At Emily...

I'm sorry you can't get past it. I wish you cuold, but...I'm not one to babysit or coddle. If you can get past a couple of mindless insults...we'd love to have you stick around...

As long as you bring the wussy beer (Mike's Hard Lemonade), we're all good. :D
Is it un-American to say I HATE regular beer? Oh wait... that's betraying the German in me...

I always walk away having gained far more from being here than I have lost.
You can take antibiotics for that:grin01:

I has ideer!!! Let's produce a 'how to argue' FAQ so's people realize that debate means never having to say you're sorry, you just get in the mud pit, fight it out, clean off and go out for a beer:cheers:

^ I have to spread some rep around before giving it to Lucille again. That sounds like a great plan, though!

GBCW threads, pandas on page 4, badgers and stomping mice?! :eek1:

What have I missed while off educating the masses?!??!??!

Can you imagine the uproar that would result if someone used those exact words to describe their feelings about a homosexual's lifestyle?

Many of us are quite good at reading between the lines of some people's posts, thanks. :puke01:

COerriccaRN I am sorry to hear you are leaving for awhile. I just got through reading the other thread and I totally understand why you feel the way you do.
The way people attacked you was totally uncalled for. You grew up on a farm and having to kill animals for a living was a part of life. Both my son and ex are hunters and they too don't feel either way when they bring down a deer. Is that wrong? I don't think so, but I know they both have strong feelings when we have had to put down a beloved pet. I have to do that tomorrow with an 11 year old cat we have had in our family since birth.
She is the daughter of a cat we had years ago, my sister took her for my niece, and I took her in a few months ago because my niece had a baby and he's allergic. She doesn't get along with my cats and had resorted to using under my bed as a litter box. I know some of you will think it horrible that I will euthanize her tomorrow, but we have tried to find her a home with a rescue and such.
Coer, please reconsider. Most of the people here are awesome. It's too bad a few bad apples ruin the bunch.

An internet message board is a good safe place to learn life skills. Hunting is an emotive topic for people on both sides of the debate. The skill to learn here is that you can argue your point passionately, but you don't have to descend to personal insults or abusive language to do so.

However, if you don't think you can have the ability to "address the issue and not the person", or you're going to take offence when others less skilled than you speak harshly against you, your lesson is that maybe you should refrain from involving yourself in that type of discussion until you can handle it better.

A minority of folks on both sides of this discussion haven't covered themselves with glory in those terms, but there have still been many more reasonable posts both for and against and that's to be applauded.

I think keeping it civil and eventually "agreeing to disagree" is the key. No passionate pro-hunter will ever change the mind of someone equally anti-hunting, and vice versa. There's no need for name-calling or insults. If nothing else, you can walk away from the message board having learned that this achieves nothing.

Also, a good tip is that the other person can't argue with you if you *don't argue*. If you just accept that they do not (and never will) accept your point of view regardless of anything you can say, then there's no need for unpleasantness. A point of view contrary to your own need not be a threat that has to be defended against - it can just be an alternative view with which you will never agree. Debate may be interesting, but the outcome will only ever be that you come away knowing more about the other person's stance. I found it a useful lesson that took me many years to learn and still occasionally escapes me!

No one was ever anti-hunting. That was is not, and was never the issue. Ever. Never once in that thread did someone suggest that concientious hunting was immoral or cruel. I would really like to know where you saw anti-hunting sentiments?

A complete lack of empathy, however, was.

Dang it, I promised myself I wouldn't post in this major drama llama thread. But since I did, I have to add:

How to Leave a Message Board
