Daytona Donations

That would be great Jeff if we had some dark colored lids. But then - of course - we have to put holes in the top too for people to drop in their tickets.
Worst case scenario I can run back up to Big Lots and get some more of the sandwich containers. Don't worry about it.

I was just thinking...maybe we could turn them upside down and have a slot in the "bottom" then the clear top would not be a problem....would just have to cut some slots in the bottoms. :shrugs:

Well - don't shoot me, but...

I just went back to the KS forums that I asked for donations on and thanked everyone for everything received so far. And mentioned that we are still accepting donations until the show. Not sure if that will get us more or not, but had to make a last try for a little more, even though it seems we have enough. AND I clarified that we are a separate RAFFLE from the AUCTION hosted by the show.

It will be fun and exhausting, all at the same time. And soon! Isn't it great to see our community come together for both fun AND a good cause?

Take a deep breath...ready???

I am SO ready! Does anyone remember Lori's Screwdriver recipe? I need a beer hat for that.

(I might have mentioned it in here, and I might not have, but I have picked up the award, and it looks fantastic!)

I have had a couple people asking that afterwards I let them know how much their donation "sold" for....
We need to be really clear that these are for a raffle - not an auction.

That's really just a simple matter of counting tickets in the buckets for each item. Tickets = $$ for that item.

Each item's tickets = total tickets sold = total $$ made.

You can cross reference everything by keeping tabs on ticket totals. Plus, it would be kinda neat to see a list of where everyone put their donations after it's over.

AND if you sell more tickets than what is put into the buckets then you know some people didn't use all your tickets. BUT if you end up donating less money than tickets that were used . . . well.

Transparency would work wonders for keeping nitpickers at bay. And in a big deal like this, with the number of hands cooking the stew, I think it would be smart to have a check and balance system with someone in charge of counting tickets for each individual item. But that's up to you guys.

I agree....it would be fun to see where cornsnake people (assuming most attendees are cornsnake people) put their money. I.e. what morphs/items/etc grab their interest.

I already figured I could count the number of tickets per raffle item. My concern is that people may think at an actual auction that their item would go for more money than in a raffle where tickets are only $1 each....know what I mean?

The Pied BP - I looked online and those are still like $600-$700. With $1 raffle tickets - we aren't going to generate anything near that. It will help having it on the USARK table, I am sure - but still....

Would we want to consider more expensive tickets just for 1 or 2 "special prizes"? Or would that just complicate things too much?

I would like to - I would think it makes sense to do so - but I do think it would make things too complicated....

I vote not. If someone really wants a high-value item- they will buy more tickets!
So if they are willing to spend $20 to try to win something, who cares if it's
20 $1 tickets or 4 $5 tickets or 1 $20 ticket.
It's easier to impulse buy in smaller denominations, too!!

Believe me - since I am the one keeping track of all the donations I already know there are a lot of raffles I will be entering. I think more so than I did last year!

A couple of things are we allowing people to buy tickets at the USARK table for the items displayed? Also I recommend a list of items people have to choose from at the table with the volunteers to help draw people in. I know it will not be complete as we have the possibility to be getting donations right up to the raffle but we know enough items now to draw lots of people in.

Not to stick my nose in since I can't even be in Daytona (though Taylor has some money for raffle tickets for me too), but for next year what about doing a silent auction or something for the bigger ticket animals? Like you said, a pied bp goes for quite a bit of money, and maybe we'd raise more by having one of those sign up and write your bid auctions? I know we're cs people, but it looks like there will be some higher end corns too.

Speaking of big ticket corns I am really interested in seeing the Phantom Amber. That thing has got to be a beaut.

We are only going to have a select group of prizes available for raffle tickets at the USARK table. The BP's, the RTB's and maybe a few other high dollar items. We will actually bring them over and display them at the USARK table to attract people to buy raffle tickets. The rest of the items will only be available for raffle tickets at our GTG at the hotel.

This might be a good idea for next year. May have been hard to pull off this year considering the NRBE auction is for USARK as well.

Won't be able to see this one until Friday at the earliest...Gene is bringing it with him from California on the train!

Phantom amber??
What phantom amber?
*drools*

Now that's just great!! I just know I am going to run out of raffle ticket cash!! :)

One black wide tip marker will color those lids in just fine. And if you cut the slit in the bottom, when you turn it over to open the lid to draw the winning ticket, you might get one that decides to come out again through the slit.

Went shopping today for the B chocolats for the raffle ,brought some more for friends and for degustation where I step by . Tommorow I will leave for Orlando .
