EMERGENCY - Stuck Snake

I hope so..... or she just doesn't know anything to say anymore...

I also thought of trying a knife like this:

OH MY GOSH!!! I almost forgot.. I DO have a box cutter like that!!! Oh wow, I'm going to go try that right now. Thank you SO MUCH for sparking my memory.

OMGosh poor baby. I don't have any other ideas to add but I do hope for your sake and his you are able to free him soon.

If the box cutter helps him out you made my day and the next!!! I feel almost as worried about him as you do over here, good luck!!!

HE'S OUT!!!

Thank god!!!!! Thank you sooo much for the box cutter idea!!
PHEW!

I got bit more than a few times, but slowly but surely I chipped enough away to set him free. I took a few pictures, but my camera battery promptly died. There was still a bit of swelling in his neck, but after setting up a new paper towel only bin for him it looks normal. I'll upload the photos I took after my battery is charged so we end on a good picture note instead of the gruesome scene above. The main thing I'm worried about now is the stress he was in during the whole thing, the skin loss, and possible organ problems from being squeezed, but hopefully he'll be ok. I'll leave him alone for awhile without any interruptions and wait awhile before I feed him to make sure everything is okay.

Thanks again to everyone who offered help!

I performed snake first aid on the other side of the ocean *YAY*

My bfr and me hugged to celebrate this :) You made my day, thank you :p

I really hope he doesn't get any complications, I'll cross my fingers!

Whew!!! BTW, there is a clause in Lova's purchase agreement that states he may never occupy one of those bin!!!

So happy to hear you got your baby free!!! Hopefully he will make a full recovery with some much needed TLC. I have a B.P. that found her way into the handle of a milk jug.....ok...she's 5ft long and almost 1600 grams...i used a utility knife...much like you did...to cut the handle down to the point that i could bust the plastic and free her....very Stressful...for me & the snake.

I had a snake in the same situation of you. My Mouse (I miss her all ready) did the same thing. She managed to wriggle out with little damage. She wasn't nearly as stuck as your poor snakie. Mouse wrapped around my arm with what was in the tub and relaxed. I think she knew she wasn't alone in trying to fix the situation. I couldn't find my wire cutters and nothing I had would cut through. I decided to try to go the hot iron route to make it simpler. She managed to slowly wiggle out as I was melting the plastic.

Based on my experience, I think that a sharp tool to cut plastic quickly and cleanly should be added to everyone's reptile first aid kit. Was there any bleeding? You said some skin came off, but was it really terrible or hardly noticeable?

Oh Jessica. How scary! I've been watching this thread on and off since earlier. Poor baby! I'm hoping he makes a perfect recovery.
