I reckon I'm just old school. You've heard the stories. A man's word meant something. Back when men were men. Soldiers fought for freedom not tuition and gi bills. A hand shake just as good as a contract. People worked for less than what they would drawing unemployment because they were ashamed of taking other's people's money. Now a days people are rewarded with a fatter check coming from my check every time they have another youngin. I say they ought to be some limits. Like only one free small check for one child, if have more feed your self or seek charity don't steal it through tax money.
Not exactly sure what all you meant with this one.
Just wanted to say.
I have served in the military, and I am using my GI Bill for school. It is a great program that helps Veterans get up off the grounds when they do not have that Military pay check any more. It allows my fellow veterans to go to school in order to become productive members of Civilian Society.
Also, I was told that I could go get unemployment, after I got out of the military, but I refused to because I did not feel that I had earned that money. I do however feel that I have earned my GI Bill. It was either pick the GI bill, re-enlist (physical issues nixed this choice for me), or move in with family until I could get a job. I went with the GI bill choice, because I have plans for the future. I would like to provide for my family, and not have to mooch off from family, or have to live out on the streets.
And seriously, watch what you say about our men and women currently serving. Many joined for school, yes, but after a while school gets put on the back burner and they become proud of their service and what they do for your freedom.
Oh and in case you haven't figured it out yet, I was one of the kids that joined because the military promised to pay for my school, as long as I invested in that plan.
So, my investment is being paid back to me. While I sit here, going to school year round, in order to keep my monthly stipend so I can stay in my apartment and keep my pets, instead of missing payments and being thrown out on the street.
