I'm out of rep, but that was my point. I feel that people nowadays are too eager to be offended.
People are eager to be offended. There is a difference between using a person's race to mock them, and using a person's race to make the story you are telling more descriptive.
I am offended by this statement.![]()
I have been known to eat fried rattle snake.
Why was it worth noting that they were a man or woman at all? Honestly some people are way too sensitive about some things...it does not make someone racist to say "a black man" nor does it make someone prejudiced against elderly people to say "an older woman".
Getting offended I believe, is a part of life. We ought to learn how to handle things with some cander. Thing is our country had degenerated into such a sue happy, sensitive, politically correct, cespool that you have to look over your shoulder, whisper, or tip toe when speaking on contreversial matters. This no one's a loser "we are the world" type attitude that is so readily accepted now a days has weakened as a society.

The gender of a person in a story is more relevant, IMHO, than the color of his skin.
Not a funny call but a funny door visit.
A Jehovah's witness rang the door bell waking me up, so i got downstairs and they said to me, we bring you God. I answered without thinking: Thanks, put him down next tot he stairs.
I do not have problems with someone's believes but if you wake me up, you're in problems. :dgrin:
But don't you think people often use any number of physical characteristics to describe a person- the black guy, the short chick, the Asian guy, the really tall guy, the bald guy, the blonde, the old guy- just as a manner of being descriptive in speech? I do it all the time.
"Go talk to my boss, Skip." "I don't know who he is." Instead of me saying he's the tall guy with short hair, or the guy with the beard, or the 50-ish looking guy- if I say he's the black guy- that is the most descriptive feature he has. It is what it is- nothing to get all offended about if I observe that.
Now if Skip was standing there with a bunch of members of the transport team, who all happen to be black, I would have to say "He's the tall guy," or whatever.
First off, claiming that a sentiment stemming from a wish to be considerate and tolerant towards the different is "weakness" is a notion which belongs to the third Reich.
The wish to be tolerant, respectful and not purposely hurt another is noble and honorable.
I daresay that living in Israel, fighting as a soldier and living in a challenging area(there are worse, granted) does give me some fiber of strength of character- I refuse to be lectured by a brainwashed provocateur.
I agree- yes, some do go overboard and take it to the extreme. But the fact that some people misinterpret or misuse something doesn't mean it's broken or evil.
Feel free to believe what you will, but the moment you try to jam it down people's throats, you are overstepping your boundaries.
Oh I do, but having it come from you is very different than from someone who is deliberately trying to rile people up.
Every post he makes, is made with all sorts of remarks to rise emotional responses.
If this was a single incident, you're dead on. But in this case, there's more to it as far as I am concerned.
I definitely agree with you, very well said!Ah and as far as I am concerned, the rambling on that it "weakens our society" just proves, to me, that there's allot more weight to his "innocent remarks".
