Thanks. "Cinder", "Z" and "Anery C" I'd recognize, but I'd never heard the term "ashy". The only other breeders whose snakes I've seen both used "cinder". That explains the excitement then; I wondered why hypo charcoal diffused (much as I'd love to have one!) would cause the reaction :laugh:
 
Congrats Rich! At first glance, they didn't look like I sort of expected they might. But then I remembered that not all C anerys are as mahogany as others. Plus, I really have no idea if more color comes in as they get a little older. You'll have to try and get a chance to take and post some pics of these after a few sheds. (I know, like you don't have anything else to do. :) )
 
I don't normally like to take pics of babies before the first shed, but I get impatient sometimes. That mahogany coloration doesn't come in till later on, and from what I can tell, I have not seen indications in the babies as to which ones will get that coloration. Of course, I may just not be looking close enough. I have to put on reading glasses these days when I sex babies.......... :awcrap:

No offense to Rich, but I really don't like the term "ashy." To me, that's what black people call it when they have really dry, white, scaly skin.

For example: (From Wikipedia)

Ashy Larry is a fictional character on the TV program Chappelle's Show. The name Ashy Larry is actually short for the character's full name Ashford Lawrence. He is extremely "ashy," a slang term that refers to a skin condition usually caused by extreme dryness...

But they are still amazing babies!!

I don't like the name Cinder . :shrugs: I think it makes no sense.

I really, really like the name Peppermint suggested for the Amel Z's though...That look is EXACTLY what came to mind when I heard the name.
 
I love cinder... and thats what I call them in discussions with others about the morph.

I don't think peppermint is a good name for amel cinders because in the UK peppermint suggests green or blue cool mints... IMO It needs to be universal or there will be a high amount of confusion.
 
Right- like mint chocolate chip ice cream is light green. Choco takes on that color sometimes.

I have to put my name on the list of people-who-prefer-cinder-to-ashy, sorry Rich. I think it's the combination of the words together that makes Ashy less appealing - cinders are alive, burning, while ash is - well, dead and grey.

Nanci - YES! That is exactly what colour I picture when I think of peppermint. I wish I could rep you but it won't let me. It's not really a very world-wide name though, but I'm sure we'd get used to it eventually.

Hmmm, the amel version is white with red spots ... maybe we should call it a snow blood? Seems logical enough to me :laugh:
