My First Hatchlings!

Well, I checked on the babies as soon as I woke up, and it looks like Motley finally decided to join the party!

Copperhead's lookalike has emerged!
P1019686.jpg

I temporarily nick named him "Avocado" because people confuse it with a vegetable sometimes but it's really a fruit. Thought that was kinda cute.
P1019694.jpg

I wish I had a more accurate scale. He weighs 7g!
P1019703.jpg

Except for having more of a head pattern, he really does look a lot like his dad

Also, finally a Butter Motley!! Kinda crazy that so far this seems to be the minority when I thought it was going to be the majority! (Those stripe heads are sooo cute though!)

"Pear", 6g

The last little guy, another Stripe, didn't want to come out!

"Pineapple" 7g.. not so little!

He's the only Stripe so far who's head pattern almost connects with his stripes.

Looks like I'm in for another waiting game. After taking these three out, I didn't see any more noses poking out into the world. I'll try to be patient and wait, but it's so hard! There are a few eggs that haven't even pipped yet, so I think we have a long way to go!

I'm kind of hoping for a "wierdo" stripe, but I'm also interested in seeing if our little wierdo is even more like his daddy in being the only one of his kind amongst a bunch of Butters. We shall see...

Wow. Those are some beauties!

You totally need to hook up with someone next year with a caramel for a breeding loan. Those babies are beautiful... and now the mystery is eating at me as to the genetics of daddy.

I am going to be a nervous wreck waiting for eggs, then for pippies!!

*sigh* now I wish there were two! Well, we'll see what comes out of the rest of those pearly whites!

If its the only one, which would be an epic, double edged sword of confusion, then keep it. I would. Theres always loans down the road. Or it could get bored of the PNW, which happens all the time, then maybe it will request the move. It could totally happen.

Congrats on the success though! This feeling never gets old, no matter how many you hatch. Im hoping that ill have pippies in a couple more weeks.

Just rechecked them, and it looks like there will be enough to go around!

This one REALLY looks like dad!
P1019756.jpg

And it looks like there are two more of the same
P1019758.jpg

Images not great, but they both look like they have red coloration..

As gorgeous as all those butter stripes are, I'm partial to Pear, the butter striped motley. I would like to see a side-by-side comparison between all the amel babies, once they all hatch, as Avocado looks slightly different than the other amels. Of course, they aren't out yet which may be part of it, but Copperhead isn't your typical amel motley and there may still be something different going on.

The other "Amel" Motley is out of the egg now.

"Pomegranate" 6g

His head looks the most like Copperhead's so far I think
P1019762.jpg

P1019769.jpg

VERY light lower half!
P1019774.jpg

Here is a comparison between Avocado (left) and Pomegranate (right).
P1019778.jpg

Avocado looks slightly more Orange, but so far they look pretty similar. Of course, that could change when they shed.

I'll do some more comparisons after everyone hatches and after everyone sheds!

What's this?! *holds breath* Looks like I might get my wish for a striped wierdo!! fingers crossed!!

:crazy02: This is so exciting. Pomegranate is a perfect name for that baby. Oh I can't wait for this weirdo. :crazy02:

Don't you think Pomegranate is a striped then? Because of the cubes? Or ain't he a weirdo color wise? I thought so...

Some of the Mot dots do look a little squared/ cubeish, but it's a Motley. The specifics are Motley/Stripe, but its morph is still Motley. Definitely a "wierdo Motley" though!

LOL you might not have any left for August show, they are popular!
I'm happily surprised at how much interest there is! I was afraid because of the mystery around Copperhead's genes they would be undesirable. I'm sure that some will be left for the August show though! When are you expecting your first hatchlings?

when all have hatched, i'd love to see a group shot :)

I'll see what I can do!

3 more heads popping out, but looks like it's still a waiting game.
