Ta da!!!!

Well after a lengthy and bloody campaign, and upon threat of bodily injury (just kidding...) unless I complied, I have decided to offer a moderator position to Jeff Mohr..... And surprisingly enough, HE ACCEPTED! Little does he realize what he is in for.

Anyway, a couple of the current mods are getting overworked here and have asked for some help, so I figured rather than running another lengthy vote on prospective candidates, I would let them choose who they would like to add on here as a mod. And they unanimously asked for Jeff..

So go easy on him for a while, people, until he learns the ropes.

Welcome aboard, Jeff... You can let go of my arm now...........

There goes the site. :smash:

Just kidding of course, welcome aboard and good luck Jeff.

Since the late fall of 2007 and my subsequent loss in the cornsnake.com moderator election, I have taken the time to contemplate my existence and purpose in life. Although I maintain an active presence on this site and still play cornsnake god and combine genes in multiple different combinations, my life seemed incomplete. To add excitement, I would constantly joke about my moderatorship and took it upon myself to run in non-elections in late 2007, 2008 and a few times in 2009. All in all, my best run was the real election in 2007 and it was a valiant effort. Although I did round out the top 6 in election results, my votes were not enough and too late coming.

My chief of staff later informed me that I had started my campaign too late and that when kissing the little kids I should not have done so on the nose. The media, too, was not favorable in the assessment of my values as a leader. I won't lie. I did attempt to lead a group of people to the top of Mt. Everest in bikinis and thongs to set a new record. We were highly trained individuals that practiced wearing such outfits in northern France so who would have thought we'd run into trouble. How was I supposed to know the temperatures would really be that different in Nepal? I guess you could also blame my lack of success on the fact that I wanted to send cornsnakes into space instead of dogs and chimps. My continual rejections from NASA didn't help my election cause.

Times change, however, and I have grown much since that fateful election day in 2007. I no longer ship my snakes to customers in tubes as Gary Larson once advised. I also do not put a water dish and a food item in the box either. Live and Learn. What I do know is that this hobby intrigues a lot of people. Many of these people will buy everything they can find so that one day they may become a well known and rich breeder. Sadly, many leave the hobby after they find out snakes do not clean their own cages nor do they always give giant, fertile clutches. And even when they do give you offspring, the market can be brutal and that windfall fortune you once dreamed about when you were first beginning has turned into a hope of breaking even and your hourly wage has gone from hundreds of dollars to hundreds of pennies....if luck is on your side.

It is true, I've been around for a while, but not near as long as some.My big advantage is my youth but I seem to find myself getting older every day. Nevertheless, having only owned snakes for 15 years or so and only having bred cornsnakes for the first time back in 1996 or so, I am still learning. To paraphase a famous cornsnake breeder "I am always learning". This forum was started out of a need to supply repeated answers to an ever increasing online customer base. Soon, cornsnakes.com became the place to go (and still is) to learn about and discuss the various aspects of this creature we so love. Conversations range from help with eggs being laid and what morph is this to the discovery of different hypo genes and photos of new, never seen morphs. Collaboration on this site is phenomenal and some of the cornsnake ‘greats' will post from time to time.

This forum has also seen the rise and fall of important members in our community. It is observed bubbles being bursted and the bursters getting out of the bubble. The chat room has been a place for pleasant conversations as well as a launching pad for an exodus from this site for some long time members. All the while, I've maintained a presence and observed the observations that could be made in this online community. Cornsnakes.com has seen the election results of 2007 and the subsequent implementation of three moderators. Pillars of our community, these powerful people roamed the site saving babies from strollers that strolled into roads, helping lost ducklings getting reunited with their parents, and keeping a general calm when normal humans chose to panic over high gas prices, presidential elections, and reputation points gone awry.

And through it all, I have been here. And through it all, I hope to continue to be here. Therefore, it is with much jubilation and glee that I, Jeff Mohr, have herby officially (and now publicly) accepted Rich Z's and the other moderators offer.

Jeff Mohr wanted to be a mod???

Who'd a thought!!:sidestep:

Jeff congratulations, I'm sure you do a great job!!

Oh FYI:
Moderator

The moderators (short singular form: "mod") are users (or employees) of the forum which are granted access to the posts and threads of all members for the purpose of moderating discussion (similar to arbitration) and also keeping the forum clean (neutralising spam and spambots etc). Because they have access to all posts and threads in their area of responsibility, it is common for a knowledgeable and trustworthy member to be promoted to moderator for such a task. Moderators also answer users' concerns about the forum, general questions, as well as responding to specific complaints.[17] Moderators themselves may have ranks: some may be given mod privilege over only a particular topic or section, while others (called 'global' or 'super') may be allowed access anywhere. Common privileges of moderators include: deleting, merging, moving, and splitting of posts and threads; closing, renaming, stickying of threads; banning, unbanning, warning the members; or adding, editing, removing the polls of threads.[18]

very true...

Congrats...

Well after a lengthy
Well after a lengthy
wasn't really lengthy unless it was started before tricksterpup posted his thread..

and bloody campaign
it sure was bloody... There was VERY strong support for Jeff. I didn't have a chance.

rather than running another lengthy vote on prospective candidates
so far only 3 canidates had come forward when this news broke out. Me, Des, and Jeff. I wasn't here during the 2007 elections, but from what i have heard, it wasn't very hard. all you did was put up a poll thread and a deadline for the polls closing.

unanimously asked for Jeff..

I never even knew we were supposed to PM you...

Well, as everyone who has read tricksterpup's thread knows, I started my campaign shortly after the thread was begun. As it was for Jeff in 2007, Support was one sided... I didn't have a chance. A little late. But here is my concession speach...

Not to long ago, I started this campaign hoping to get lucky and win this. Ever since I started posting here I have wanted to be a mod. not to dictate, but to make the forums a better place. When I heard there was a 2010 election, I quickly sprung on it and started my small campaign. I knew I would probably not win, but I hoped that from all my posts here, someone would at least consider me. The public opinion was already for Jeff. None of the runners but jeff ever gained any support. Propaganda for him was all over the forum. The moment that happened nobody wanted anything other than Jeff to be mod. Better luck next time, 'eh? I officially concede from the running for mod.

Oh and PS, i was going to endorce you des if I for some reason conceded from the race before the vote. But there is no vote, so above this is my concession speach. :shrugs:
