Several weeks ago I found a strange looking "normal" at petco. I snatched her up because she had a lot of funky colors going on, mostly pastels and an interesting light brown saddle color. I thought she might be a kastanie but after this last shed, I dont think she is that, nor is she "just" a normal.

No matter what she is, she's one gorgeous little girl :)

Here are a couple pics of her before she shed.

Opinions!!

Angela,

Pretty Baby!!

Our "Stores" Offer Amel & Anery ...thats it.

No Idea on your baby.

Colorful Normal? Buf? Kastanie?? :shrugs:

LOVE your Palmetto Hide!!! Awesome! :)

Yeah, Im pretty clueless. She really transformed after just that last shed... amazing!

Tom, she is definitely hand fed LOL! This girl just LOVES to eat!

Angela, she looks a lot like she has some Redcoat in her. The first picture screams she has that red wash that the red coat/red factor does to them. What does her belly look like? Bob could give you more info on that.

Maybe even strawberry. But she made a huge change. I would of never guessed she was so red underneath that shed.

The pre-shed sure reminded me of Kastanie, but post-shed...WOW! What about a wild guess at red factored Kastanie?

Hmm

It looks red factor to me,but I think Kastanie and red factor look very similar. I was hoping to pick up a Kastanie male to breed into my line of red factor babys. The red factor usually have a line thats bright red that run from the head to the tail and as they grow out they continue to color up. Either way nice animal!

First, very cool looking snake.

Secondly, is it just me or is there something odd about the lateral patterning, not the coloration, the actual patterning? Maybe it's just me?

It reminds me of What-the and Heck... I found them at a pet store as well (and they were the crypto + babies)

Taken when I got them:

They were turning into very colorful "just" hypos when Heck went clinical.

Thanks! I thought her pattern looked very clean, maybe thats why it looks strange?

I am obviously clueless as to what she is, but I was hoping kastanie. Time will tell I guess. I just love how much she has colored up with just one shed. I dont plan on breeding her, since Im pretty much done with that since its too hard for me to do with my job and constant moving, but it would be cool to do some red factor stuff with her.

Megan, that was a big color change with your snakes! They really did look like kastanie for sure. Very strange. Im sorry to hear about their having crypto... apparently most or maybe all of the petco snakes come from Gourmet Rodent. I wonder if they had an outbreak?

A little updated photo shoot during feeding. Shes coloring up very nicely but Im still not sure what she is! I dont really care, shes going to be a stunning girl. The pics were taken with my cell phone but the colors are true.

I'm gonna take a stab at ultra being in there.

I can't believe I missed this. She is a nice find. I am not sure about the redfactor though. Her belly looks way to clean.

A couple updated pics of her. She has changed a lot, still clueless as to whats going on, but Im looking forward to watching her grow more. She just shed yesterday. Pics are a little shadow-y but I took them with my iPhone.
