Poll: What Would You Do? Parking Spot Dilemma

I live in an apartment complex that allows one reserved parking space per apartment (and like everything, it's not free). And there is a sign in all the entrances stating that if someone parks in a reserved spot they will be towed and have to pay a fine.

I came home today to see not 1, not 2, but 5 Comcast vans parked in a row, taking out 5 reserved parking places. And of course one of them is parked in my spot. Now if this had been a normal car I just would have had them towed (unless I recognized the car then I would knock on their door and nicely ask them to move). But since it was a Comcast van, I didn't want to do that, because if I did, the rest of their customers could have their appointments delayed (hard to make it to an appointment without the van).

But at the same time, I paid for that parking spot and there are unreserved parking spots nearby. And I didn't see anyone in the vans. So what did I do? I went to my landlord's office and kindly informed one of the employees about the vans. And by the time I got back, a few Comcast drivers were in front of one of the vans. I nicely asked them to move the van that was in my spot, and to my surprise, all 5 moved.

So I thought, why not see what others would have done. If you had a paid parking spot and saw a Comcast (or any business) automobile in your spot what would you do?

a) Call the towing company
b) Inform the landlord
c) Go park in an unreserved parking spot, and just wait for them to leave
d) Try to hunt down one of the Comcast drivers
e) Other (specify)

Just thought this could be a light-hearted poll, just wondering what others would have done. I wasn't too sure myself when I first saw them.

D, with a small amount of effort, followed by A.

Since there is a sign and notice, I would be guilt free of calling the towing company. People pay for those spots and it seems to be clearly marked.

C, followed by B, followed by moving into my space later. I would assume they were there only for a short time to fix a problem if they needed all of those vans at once, but I would definitely have informed the landlord since they were blocking your space.

C. If it's for a few hours and you know that they are there for a reason I don't see the issue. If the spots are marked and there was clearly more spaces I might say something, but in all honesty probably not.

Let me also say I'm biased; I'm a delivery driver. Try finding me a space to deliver your WalMart-ordered tv in my 26' truck. I've had people threaten to call a tow truck, cops whatever. Granted I'm in and out in 5-10 minutes, but sometimes large deliveries of multiple pieces takes awhile. If someone sees me trying to make a living and feels it isn't near as important as them having to take fewer steps to get to their door that's just tough beans. Old folks, vets and pregnant ladies always get the benefit, but the rest of y'all....:shrugs:

C, but if it happens routinely, B. I would probably not get anyone towed for fear of retaliation, plus it can cost over a hundred dollars to get your car back if it gets towed.

Seriously tho, if it was a Comcast or delivery van. I would park somewhere else until they were finished. If it was some other resident that always parks in others spot, I would slit their tires... but that is just me! :D

C. D if I had a heavy parcel or something and was severely inconvenienced.

C. - I'm a cowardly Canadian lol
However, if it was the same person parking in my spot repeatedly, I would have gone with E. Which consists of throwing a dozen eggs at their car while enjoying a cold beer ;) hehehe

I would have blocked one or more of their vehicles in with mine, and made them late to the rest of their appointments, causing the company money and illustrating how sometimes parking where you're not supposed to can lead to a major inconvenience. In fact, I've done that to people parked in my spot when I lived in a townhouse. Just parked right behind them at an opposite angle and refusing to answer my door for hours or all night.

B, and if that didn't change anything within a relatively short amount of time (~30mins) then I would go straight to A. I would try and get them to move first, by getting the landlord to find them for me. If that didn't work I would call the towing company. I believe in giving most people a chance to fix the problem, but that spot is paid for!

Probably C. if it does not usually happen, if the spot is not for handicapped and I need it for that reason. I would wonder why there were FIVE Comcast vans when you can barely get one to come so I might also inquire with apartment management.

And how would you feel if it was your appointment they were late to or not able to get to because of that type of scenario?

Usually, this type of thing happens during the day, & most people work during the day, so it's "generally" safe for them to park close to where they need to work.

I would park in another spot, try to find a driver, & ask them to move so I can park in my spot, & if I cannot find a driver, or they refuse to move & it's going to be a while, I would inform management.
By blocking them in, you're parking illegally, & your vehicle can get towed.

C, then B, then A. I'd resort to towing for repeat offenders in my parking spot. (However, I am lucky in my current place of residence in which the garage is part of my townhome.)
