Sandy...

Nanci-It didn't flood during Irene and I'm sitting down on the computer waiting to see if it will.

I didn't expect Ohio to be affected, wow.

It's really windy here in Mi & there are warnings out that people may loose power :( I hope everyone who is actually near/in/around the storms path makes it through with minimal damages!!

Don't forget! If you lose your landline or cell phone service, in FL at least, you can ask for a refund for the days you didn't have service! Well, it's something :)

We're still doing ok for the moment over here in southern Maryland, though it may still get worse as the night progresses.

I'm just praying that neither of the two worrisome trees fall on the house. One is leaning directly towards us and the other is rotting at the bottom, but I'm hoping they'll prove strong! We already had a tree on the house last year

Everyone else stay safe!!

Well the eye pass over us at about six, it came in at Stone Harbor which is seven miles north of me. My town is center of the ocean and the bay and our yards are either lightly flooded or soaked. Our lower level which is below grade is weeping. But I think the worst is over for us. Still don't have Internet but that my least worry!!
We where Lucky. I'm saying a prayer for the folks west and north of me.

Yikes! Stay safe, everyone!
There's a couple of iffy trees on either side of the attic I'm in and if the winds get too high I'm taking Stig's house and putting him in the stairwell, he should be safer there. I didn't know the storm was supposed to get to my side of Michigan so he ate yesterday, hopefully he keeps his mousie down alright!

Chicago is expecting high winds from Sandy and are preparing for high waves off the lake is see. Hope everyone east is doing ok! Everyone out that way is in my prayers.

I pulled this off of a New Jersey news website. Snooki got a new pet.

That being said, stay safe everyone. As a Floridian, I joke about hurricanes. But then I see pictures like these from New York, and remember that your areas definitely aren't as hurricane prepared as elsewhere.

Thanks for the pictures Robbie. I can only say OMG. I guess I don't remember the typhoons in Tiawan as well as I thought I did. Still I was a kid then and what I remember is being out of school for almost a month as the school was 6 feet under water. I swear it was designed and placed by kids. Who in their right mind builds a k -12 school next to a river in typhoon county?

This is a sad story. The replica of HMS Bounty went down yesterday. Claudene Christian was the great-great-great-great-great granddaughter of Fletcher Christian – the crewman who seized command of the original Bounty from William Bligh in the mutiny of 1789. She did not survive. 14 people were rescued. The captain is still missing.

If you look at the slide show you can see where Bounty passed through the hurricane's path.

Here's a video of the coast guard rescue:

They clocked winds at Burke Airport this morning at 68mph. (Cleveland Lake Erie shoreline)

Very sad, indeed... Hopes & prayers to her friends and family as well as those of the Captain... who I hope is found alive.

Wow, I can't believe it. Morning has come and I somehow still have power and Sandy has moved on from my area o.o

Good luck to everyone else, stay safe.

No power at my house. We lost it at 6:30 last night. I can lurk here on my cell (which I did alot of last night). It is very difficult to type on here when on my cell so that is why I was quiet. The shop has power so I am here recharging my phone.

So heartbreaking....unbelieveable. I hope and pray that all cs members and their loved ones are safe, warm and dry.

Well no one here is hurt and as far as I see around me nothing is really damaged. Power has been out since 7:00 last night. Luckily we have my aunt and uncle's to crash at. But since we have no chainsaw the downed tree in our yard has to be hacked at with an axe and a hand saw but then again what is there to do.
