For the past 6 years or so, my daughter has been begging me for a dog...specifically a Chihuahua. Me...I don't particularly care for 'em. Yippy, nippy, snappy, bitey, growling, toe-biting rat dogs...in my opinion...;) I am SUCH a sucker...

Yup...that's my kid, walking her 4-month old female Chihuahua, Fleur...

2 peas in a pod in only 3 days...

I went and spent about an hour with this pup before I ever told my daughter about her. She is a very well-behaved puppy, and has proven to be very easy to train.

I told my daughter, "This is your dog. I have no interest in owning a Chihuahua. I will pay for everything you need to take proper care of her, but you will take care of poo, pee, walking, feeding, watering, brushing, bathing, cleaning, petting, and loving...I will help with the training."

She has been doing so well in school and at home, that she has proven she is ready, and I really couldn't have asked for a more perfect match for her first dog...

Thanks for looking!

P.S. Yes, I am perfectly aware that my child is wearing 2 different shoes. It's Saturday...:nyah:

I share your sentiment for chihuahuas 100%... But Fleur is kind of cute for a neurotic little ankle-biter dog. ;) Your daughter is beautiful, as well. Great photos, as usual. Thanks for sharing!

Chris...what happened to your daughter??? She got so tall!!! I remember pictures of her when she was itty bitty!
She is still beautiful, and her little dog is really cute. I do like chis and they look like a great match!

Simply an outstanding pair, Chris! I'm with the others that noted how tall your daughter has grown!

As for the Chihuahua... THAT is a great looking Chihuahua.... I'm used to seeing the ones that have absolutely NO self-esteem and pee and shiver nervously when they see you...

Who could blame you for not being able to say no to that sweet face (meaning your daughter not the ankle bitter, lol).

I agree. That dog has an intelligent face.

She's been very easy to train, she's happy and confident, willing to meet new people, though a little nervous at first. She growls at her own reflection, but we've already broken the habit of growling and barking at other dogs and new people. She's definitely got a MUCH stronger personality than other Chihuahuas I've known. Otherwise, I never would have agreed to bring it home...

And yea...my baby girl is growing. A LOT!!

What a great dad! small dogs tend to get a bad rap because they are not treated like dogs, but like little people. Your daughter is already on the right path by walking her dog and not carrying her like so many do. Keep rules and boundaries and her chihuahua will make you change your mind about small dogs forever!

Oh, I'm also thinking she might not be pure Chihuahua. I'm leaning towards a little Corgi blood in there...

Thanks everyone!!

Sorry! Should have said dad not mom....didn't even pay attention to who posted (how spaced out am I?).....

I was thinking too that she seems a little sturdy for pure breed chihuahua... never seen them with this medium hair length either I think. But she is a cute dog indeed!

I'm not gonna be very original but it also crossed my mind that you'll have to chase the boys away from your daughter in a few years :p How old is she now?

8...and I'm not looking forward to 13...:madeuce:

Awesome pair! She looks so happy. My childhood dog was my companion on many an adventure, they can enrich a kid's life so much. Who knows, you might even find a small measure of -dare I say -love for that little dog before ya know it!

I can't believe how much she's grown! I'm not at all surprised she's grown into such a great kid though, you might have had a little bit to do with it!

I almost said something about the dog not looking pure "barking rat" to me, I definitely would think that there is corgi in the mix as well. Those ears and body shape makes me lean that way... Also, the head shape... Beautiful little dog. Maybe more Corgi, than Chihuahua, if so you got a very lucky pup. Very smart dogs, Corgi's, sometimes too smart for their own good...LOL
