    Thanks for the vocab rep Alan! I think "bargepole" must be a Brit thing. Our canals are quite dinky, so they let us propel our barges along using poles if we need to. I suspect Stateside waterways are a bit more awe-inspiring!

    P.S. Our bargepoles can be "10' bargepoles" as well.
