Noah, Rosy Boa and Mrs. George

Nanci

Alien Lover
Finally! My elusive waterlily, Mrs. George C. Hitchcock graced me with her first bud since I planted her in April. She's a night bloomer, though, and didn't open till long after I'd gone to bed. I caught her this morning, having returned home from work at 7:00 AM!

I was happy to see her finally bloom, as the other three have bloomed non-stop all spring and summer, and she's been cared for and fertilized right along with them!

And what's a beautiful flower without a beautiful snake? My new boyfriend Noah volunteered to pose with Mrs. George. He's just sweet that way!

Thanks for looking!

What a pretty flower and a pretty snake! I'm glad that after all that wait she flowered, and that the flower was worth it! It makes me think of this simpson's episode where all of town gathers to see the flower that only opens once every thousand years, or some long period of time, and when it opens it is so gross and smelly that it knocks everyone out! This is much better!

Great pictures of a lovely couple!
What type/locality is Noah?
He's just beautiful!

(I need to get my bum outside and take a few shots of mine before it gets too cold)

What a fantastic lily Nanci! Definately worth the wait to see her bloom. And of course -Noah just adds that bit of pizzazz to the whole photo shoot!

Thanks a lot you guys! Noah is an anery Pioneertown locality California Desert Rosy Boa.

The waterlily is a Mrs. George C. Hitchcock. They often get named after the person who develops them. Or some relative of theirs. She's a tropical lily, which ou can tell because she stands above the water, doesn't float on it like a hardy lily would. Tropical lillies die at a water temp of 50F, so I will have to do something involving bringing them in the house for the winter. She's also a night bloomer. The blooms open after dark, close at dawn, and stay open a little longer in the day each day, till they finally just stay open on the third day. The day blooming lillies have two or three blooms in various states at any time. You have to remove the old flowers to prevent the plant from using energy for making seeds, not new flowers.

As someone who enjoys....

other peoples plants those pics are the kats. And congrats I didn't know you had gotten your Rosy yet.

As usual, Nanci, those photos are spectacular. I can certainly understand your love for your new boyfriend. He's quite the handsome one!

I got him at Daytona, Craig! I spent the whole show obsessed with him after I saw him, and then finally gave in and decided to buy him Sunday morning, and then the guy didn't take credit cards, and I didn't have enough cash, so I stole from my house payment while Katie bargained the guy down slightly because I'm too embarassed to ask for a deal. Noah is SO cool you wouldn't believe it!!! He has blue eyes!!! He bit me last time I fed him!!!
