Tessera price drop

Just to note, I now have also copyrighted the morph name "Tesserabama." Thank you.

I have already trademarked the names "tessami" and "tessatee," though!

Actually, I think I like the sound of "tesserami" - - sounds like a big storm or weather event, haha! Such as "A huge tesserami wave is about to overtake the corn snake market!"

Oh, you're on to something. Tesserami it is, then! I'll give you a cut of my copyright riches for the tweak!

The Tessera essentially originated from the okeetee. I've currently got 3 Tesseras (2 of them adults) and two have come solely from okeetee lineage (by D. Soderberg) specifically to keep the okeetee look (dark black bordering).

But Miami would be interesting and possibly gorgeous. I think we already know what they would look like though! (Miami stripe).

Stripe effects color a lot more than tessera, particularly in reducing black. I bet a Tesserami would look quite different. We'll just have to invent them and find out!

So who's going to get going on that? I think someone needs to send Carol some Tesseras...

I'm one step ahead of ya. Waiting to hear back from her.

Yes! I am not generally crazy about stripes. But her striped (and motley) Miamis are REALLY nice! I bet she could make a tesserami that would be even prettier than those!

If Chip's called tessami and tesserami i'm calling "Okeetera's"; would be fun to breed them into all the localities :^)

Back up a few posts, I've got dibs on that one, too! I just went with "Tesseratees" or something, though.

....

i cant wait to see a butter tessera! and a lavender one, and an ultramel lavender one, and.....well you know. i am gonna try to buy one this year.

That being said there is no need to change the name from Tessera.

So, does anyone know what they are going for this year?

That is a difficult question. The only answer I have would be fair market value. IMHO any responsible breeder/ hobbyist wouldn't over produce any morph and especially a co-dom. We have witnessed this first hand with the ball pythons and have seen the results.
To do so not only hurts the market, it also adversely affects the professional breeders that do this for their livelihood. These are the people that bring us most of the morphs that we enjoy today. They have families and some have employees with families.

I wouldn't expect them to drop this year, since they had a huge drop the end of last year.

I believe the market will be saturated with normal colored Tesseras with in two more years and won't go for more than
$100 - $200 ea. if not less.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them here by this time next year. Corns produce more reliably and with larger clutches than BP's and BP co-dom and doms dropped by half or more every until recently. Add a bad economy and a lousy corn market....

Concentrate on making your crosses and having fun. As long as you stay with it you will make your money back. Just don't expect to get rich breeding cornsnakes.
