DAYTONA 2010 OFFICIAL THREAD

That does sound familiar....
So what would we consider fair to include any extra for taxes or tips or whatnot? I know the dinner cost is inclusive of tax and tips, but still....

OK, so I'm a ding dong, and I'm confused... lol  is tax and gratutity already included? I know you said serving fees but I just thought this meant it includes someone staying to serve. (which means they will probably expect a tip)

Crap - I just reread the email from Joe and tax is NOT included....
I will have to have him send me the updated one where the manager advised about the servers/tip.

If I had anything available in time I would be willing to run a 2nd raffle where all proceeds went to help funding the dinner and any left over would go to USARK - but I don't know if I will have anything available in time....

Yes, last year we did allow non attenders to buy tickets at the full price. Do we want to do the same thing or do we want to offer them cheaper this year? It doesn't matter to me. Just looking for input. :)

As to this - I would think any non-attendees - the raffle tickets should still be the same price regardless. Just my two cents...

Ya, I'm truly not trying to be a PITA, it would just suck to get a "suprise" later, and we want our caterers to be happy. Especially since it seems like a really good option for us.

Lately people are bored to death with charity golf tourneys and have been moving to sporting clay tournaments for fundraising. I've had to coordinate a lot of these including the catering, and it's usually my job to warn the event organizers of all the incidentals. I also have to explain that just because they are working for a cause, that doesn't mean the caterers are. ;)

Ok, the first quote was,
Proposal 1:
Unlimited Salad, Pizza and Pasta with Iced Tea and Sodas $11.99 per person plus tax.
To include house salad with house dressing(red wine vinaigrette), Assorted Deep Dish Pizzas, Fettuccine Alfredo and Penne Marinara.
Then we asked to add the cookie/brownie tray by request, which bumped it up to $1 more per person.
Then I emailed,
Excellent, and does this include servers? are they tipped, or is it included in this price? I want to make sure I have everything covered before I post a final price per person, so I can include it if it isn't.
He replied,
Set up and service is included in the price.
Thanks,
Howie
Florida Sales tax differs by county, but it's either 6.5% or 7%, so I'd go 7% to be safe, making it 13.90, plus PayPal fees, I would just round up to $15.00, with all extra going as an extra tip... :shrugs:

That would be easier, I could almost cut and paste the entire verbage from last year...I've got to dig up some raffle tickets! (If I don't find last years roll I can get some more at work tomorrow).

And that's $5 cheaper than last year. (And it sounds a lot better).

If you asked about tip and he said it's all included, than that does sound like we are "off the hook".

AWESOME!

Around $15 for unlimited salad, pizza, pasta, and some dessert sounds great! (can't remember if that included some drinks such as soda, tea, coffee, etc?) If we have a tasty, reasonably priced meal, PLUS as much fun with the raffle as we did last year, it will be a REAL WINNER! I hope we can do door prizes again like last year, too. That really added to the fun! Especially if Robbie gets up on a chair and enthusiastically calls them out like last year, loll! Very memorable! And the live updates on the Internet - classy touch, too - added to the excitement!

I imagine we will be able to get some stuff from Zoo Med again this year. We can put the small stuff in the door prizes, and the bigger stuff in the raffle.

Here's to hoping that (if I get the internship) I'll be able to do it! It is my full intention to MC this event again, probably because I had SUCH a great time doing it last year. I want a comfier standing chair this year, though. :p

Side note: I think we should have a gong to get everyone's attention at the beginning. :roflmao:

You know me and you Robbie really should get together sometime and hang out. I only live like 20-30mins from Daytona. Depending on who is driving lol.

I will be in Orlando in about a week... for a week... right after FIRE and before Daytona... my luck just keeps gettin better and better!!! lol... have fun guys... and thanks for the phone call from the show last year VJ lol. great way to RUB IT IN LOL.

I have never been to the FIRE show. I am just afraid I will be disappointed after going to the Breeder Expo for the last 15 years. Plus I didnt have any money to go. I was considering it a couple months ago until I lost my job.

Josh, you don't necessarily go there to buy snakes. You go there to socialize, buy some mice, visit all your friends, go out to lunch...

Well, let me know if you're free on the weekend and we can meet up!

I am going out to visit family so I have to check and see what they have on the books... I have something about an airboat ride lol so we will see... If I can it may be spur of the moment though... I will have to keep you posted.

Yeah I know that as hard as it is not to lol. But really didnt have money for the drive or lunch or entry. So just stayed home sulking lol.

Does anyone still need hotel rooms? Our "official" cut off date for our rate is August 1st. After that date rooms and rates are based on availability.

I saw a few people post in the thread along the way from out of state who have not contacted me. Don't know if that means you already have your rooms taken care of or if you were waiting.... if the latter - don't wait too long!!

Pretty soon between Carol and myself we will be starting a thread for the raffle like last year that also served as a dinner ticket. This also helps us start getting a head count for dinner.

If you plan on attending dinner - we WILL need payment in advance please. It will make everyone's lives much easier. And you do not have to attend dinner to attend the festivities afterwards.
