Talk about heart break

Sorry for the not so great pics, but here is what I think could be the worlds first.......well for me anyway. I'd like to introduce a Sunkissed Pied-Sided Bloodred.........in a very high to extreme expression to boot !!

Anyone who has tried taking pics. of Pied-Sideds knows how much of a pain in the butt it is to capture all of the piedness in the pic. I know it does not look it from the pics, but this little guy has a ton of white on him.

NOW, for the heart break part of this. After trying to breed my 1.2 Normals het SK Pied-Sided Bloodred for the past couple years only to get full clutches of infertiles, they finally didn't dud out. I finally got fertiles eggs, only to find out they are carriers for the gazer trait.
(This is only one of two clutches and I still have to see what the other clutch yields)
So far there is one gazer that has emerged from the clutch. I'm still awaiting quite a few to crawl from their mini pods.

I'm going to stay on the positive side of things and fortunatly this little guy is not homo gazer, so there is a chance he does not carry the gazer trait and I believe he is very worthy of holding onto for testing.

Yeah, but even if I get NO homo gazers in the 2nd. clutch, they will all still be poss het carriers due to using the same male on both females.

It just adds a bit more testing for me.

Heather, if you are talking about the project starting animals (grandparents), it was a SMR Pied-Sided X Sunkissed. That breeding was done in 2008 and both were here on loan from Don Soderberg at the time, so that particular Sunkissed female of Don's IS a carrier of the gazer gene.

Everybody KNOWS that ALL untested lines of Sunkisssed are at least 50% ph Stargazer.

Everybody knows this, yet they are still selling them, with the disclaimer, "I haven't seen it yet". Actually, everbody HAS seen it, time and time again as in this example. Untested lines of Sunkissed ARE 50% ph SG.

I just wantred to post this little guy for everyone to see. Even though he could be a possible carrier, he is still a nice piece of eye candy.

Sorry to hear about the stargazer gene showing it's ugly head, but that baby is AWESOME!!! I'll say a prayer that it not only survives to produce a couple of hundred offspring for you but that it didn't inherit the stargazer gene.

With only 1 snake showing signs of a neurological disorder isn't that a little premature to automatically target it as a recessive gene such as stargazing and label all associated animals as such?
